The holy Spirit of God
« on: February 07, 2007, 05:00:34 PM »

I was reading in Ephesians earlier today and read in Ephesians 4:30

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

My question is: How can one grieve the holy Spirit of God?
Would like to have others thoughts on this.

Iris,
Hi there.  I would say that if we willingly sin when we are convicted that something is wrong, then we have grieved the HS.

Also, when we refuse to obey the spirits' prompting to do or to not do something that HE informs us to do, then we have sinned and grieved the HS.

I think that it would also hurt the Spirit of God to take His name in vain (ex: the second commandment: Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord the God in vain...to me means two things;

1-that means to cuss in Jesus or Gods' name and

2- to say "thus saith the Lord' in a matter, when HE never did say it b/c no one can then change the circumstances if they are saying that God has said that it is the final decision.
