Darwin did not recant.
« on: February 25, 2007, 08:30:54 PM »

The "Lady Hope" story appears to be a fallacy.

http://www.christiananswers.net/q-aig/darwin.html

"Moore concludes that Lady Hope probably did visit Charles between Wednesday, September 28 and Sunday, October 2, 1881, almost certainly when Francis and Henrietta were absent, but his [Darwin's] wife, Emma, probably was present. He describes Lady Hope as "a skilled raconteur, able to summon up poignant scenes and conversations, and embroider them with sentimental spirituality."

Amen!

I had also heard that Kruschef became a Christian right before he died and also Rock Hudson.
Just hopeful thinking...???  And of course, Elvis.

I ACTUALLY HEARD THAT RICHARD DAHMER GOT BAPTISED AND PROCLAIMED HIS FAITH IN Yeshua, shortly after he arrived in prison and right before he was murdered.

Indeed. I only created this thread because many well-meaning people pass on the story as fact when it's actualy a fallacy. But you're right, he will recant.

You probably meant Jeffrey Dahmer.  I heard the same thing about him.  I believe he was a tormented individual who was genuinely remorseful for what he did.  Now, whether or not he produced enough of a crop in his life to be fit for the kingdom before he died, I don't know.  But it seems he may have reached a point of realizing he was a prisoner of sin and only by God's mercy and grace could he be set free. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of suprised religious folks who one day see Dahmer in the kingdom while they themselves have yet to enter.

Yes, Jeffery, Dahmer, not Richard. ;)

To All,

Kind of like Emperor Constatine converted to Christianity on his deathbed.  Very doubtful.

This all sounds like a ten-second sinner's prayer to me. "Converted to Christianity, got baptised and proclaimed his faith in Yeshua..."
Conversion is a process that lasts a lifetime... Just felt like mentioning this...  ;)

Here’s how to tell if you have faith; how do you live… what do you do… what do you accomplish in life… what are your goals… What is there about you that proves that you have this faith and belief inside of you? What?

Well, like Ray says, it took all of about 2 minutes for the Lord to convert Paul.  I kind of HOPE the STORY is true!

Peace, Lisa

Maybe your talking about the difference in the called and chosen.
With Jeffrey Dahmer he may have became a 'Christian', the called.
But with Paul he was chosen, the few, where our hope lies  :)

mercy, peace, and love

Hi Kat,

I'm not that complicated, I was just talking about hope in general.  Thought the Darwin Lady Hope Story was inspiring, that's all.

Peace to you,
