Christ & the Elect, a short story Zec. 10

<< < (2/2)

Kat:

Hi Joe,

I can see what you are saying, that certainly is Christ in Zech 10:4.

And I can see that the former rain is the New Covenant and it is the nurturing of the "firstfruits."
It is this scripture in James that makes me wonder about this latter rain.

James 5:7  Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

So it sounds like Christ will not return until he receives the latter rain too.  But this latter rain is also the spring rain.

Joe 2:23  Be glad then, sons of Zion, and rejoice in Jehovah your God. For He has given you the former rain (Strong's  H4175 môreh; teacher or teaching; also the early rain) according to righteousness, and He will cause the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain (Strong's H4456- malqôsh; the spring rain; figuratively eloquence: - latter rain.) in the first month.

So I trying to think how this all fits together.  Could this rain be the Holy Spirit, so it is poured out on the elect now from Christ's resurrection until His return?   And it could also be looked at as the cloud that the elect return in?   1Th 4:17 "...together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air..."

I'm just now trying to consider all this, so I know I may be off on this  :)

Hello again Kat,

I like that verse you quoted here, consider how it reads "for the precious fruit of the earth" this doesn't seem to differentiate firstfruits but seems to include the entire harvest, the early and the latter. I think it may imply or point to the culmination of all things because that is what Christ's ultimate mission is to bring all men to God the Father.

This patience is, was and will be an attribute of His elect as well, especially after the resurrection when they are incorruptable, Our patience is actually His patience, being nurtured and developed in this life, perfect in the next.

This is a study not a teaching so if there are any other thoughts anyone may have they are surely welcome.

His Peace and Wisdom to you,

Joe
