UNIVERSALISM
gmik:
Because I could not stop for death
he kindly stopped for me.
The carriage held but just ourselves
and Immortality.

Since then tis centuries, but each feels shorter than the day,
I first surmised the horses heads were toward
Eternity.

Well, I guess it doesn't really fit, but that is what I thought of when I read your poem.
I do like her poetry!
Deborah-Leigh:
Thanks G!
I think it fits and it reminds me of a story I came across many years ago.
There was a King who received word that Death was on its way to him. In haste he requested his finesest and fastest horse to be prepared. He then took his favorite jewels and some rations for his journey. He told his Queen that he was going to run away for a while so that death would not catch him.
He took his horse and galloped out of the palace premises. On his way through the gates death saw him thundering past him. Death asked in shock " What is the King doing here?" The Queen replied, "Oh! He heard that death was coming so he has fled this night to Bagdad to escape!" With a sigh of relief Death responded, "Well that is good because this night I have an appointment with your King in Babdad and I did not know why I should see him here as I always keep my appointments!"
God knows the number of our days and Jesus holds the keys of death! We can not steal one extra day of life or living!
Peace to you
