In verse 8 of the 3rd chapter of Matthew, John the Baptist told the Pharisees and Sadducees to "produce fruit worthy of repentence". What kind of fruit would need to be repented of ? certainly not the fruit of the Spirit! Thank you for your comments.

You are assuming that that John's statement is saying that they needed to show fruits which they were then to repent OF. It is not saying any such thing. The "fruit" is the PROOF OF REPENTANCE. John is asking "What 'fruit' (proof) can you show us that will CONFIRM your repentance?"
