How to use text formatting in posting
« on: May 22, 2007, 02:11:53 PM »

This is for those who want to use text formatting in posting to underline, bolden or italicize words.

I am going to try and explain how to use all the BBCodes in your posts through the clickable interface boxes above the message area on the posting form.

So here's how to create bold, italic, underlined text, and use the boxes above the posting form.
All these boxes are BBCode and includes tags to allow you to quickly change the basic style of your text. This is achieved in the following ways:

To make a piece of text bold, put the blinking cursor wherever you want the bolden text to appear on the page.
Click on the first box that shows a bold B, you will see a BBcode come up on the page.
Now type whatever you wish inside the brackets, and when you wish to end the bolden print move the blinking cursor outside the second set of brackets.

This will work the same for the 7 boxes that change the appearance of the text. Most of the other ones I don't use, but the quote box, the second to last one.
This is done the same way, you put your blinking cursor where you want the quoted text to be on the page.
Then copy and paste the desired text you want to quote, and put it between the brackets.
Quote
This will cause the quoted text to come up in a darkened box, like this

Move the bllinking cursor out side of the second brackets to continue.

Just play around with this a bit and you will see how it works.
I hope this will help any who do not know about using this in your posting  :)

Hi Kat  :)

That was great and thanks for taking the time and effort needed to write it.

I would like to add two more useful tips.

To bold-en "B", italicize "I", ect or to color existing text simply drag your mouse over the text you want to format and "hilight " it.  Then click on the formating button, object you wish to use.

One cavet to this method is that if you want to use more than 1 formating tool, you will need to re-hilight the text. Not a bad price to pay. :)

Another tip is if you make a mistake and delete a whole line of text, or even the whole text, simply press [Ctrl / Z] at the same time, this will reverse the mistake you made. You can press it mulitple times to "undo" a lot of changes.

I have a few more if anyone is interested or feel bold enough  :D

Thanks and love to you all in Christ,
Darren

Kat and Darren,

Thanks for thoses tips. The one I have not figured out yet is how to insert an image. I tried it but it didn't show up in the preview so didn't post it as I wasn't sure I did it right.

Hi Suzie,

I don't think the pic will not come up in the preview, just the code, but it will come up in the post.  Try it again  :)

That's good to know Darren, I didn't know about that way.

Your weclome, Orlando.

Hi Suzie,

What you need to do is have an image at a location on the internet.

And then insert the image like this [iXmg]http://sportsfitusa.net/images/bigsmile.gif[/img]

Note: the Red X is only there to show you the code. (preventing the img from displaying) :)

Oh, FYI, this particular website is one that I designed and I have access to it :)

I hope this helps,
Darren

That helps Darren,

I used one I had in my documents. That may be why it didn't work.
