Tithing?

Dear Mark: Paul goes on to say: "Even so has the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel SHOULD LIVE OF THE GOSPEL" (I Cor. 9:14). But to "live of the Gospel" does not mean drive a Mercedes or wear Rolex watches. Churches are to support their pastor, but this is done by faith. Under no circumstances may a pastor teach that tithing is a law, the breaking of which would be a sin, the penalty of which would be DEATH. The New Testament Church of Jesus Christ and money, have absolutely nothing to do with tithing. Tithing was for Israel ONLY, to the Levites and priests ONLY, of farm products ONLY, during the tabernacle/temple service period ONLY, etc. The Church is supported by voluntary offerings ONLY.

Certainly it would not be wrong to teach a powerful sermon on being a "Cheerful GIVER."

        God be with you,

        Ray
