Hell? What's the point

If there is no hell...........then why did Jesus die on the cross? What would be the point of having a Messiah from a hell that didn't exist?

What's the point of Jesus dying on the cross if there IS A HELL AND HE DOESN'T
SAVE EVERYONE FROM GOING THERE ANYHOW? Talk about an exercise in futility!
