Salt of the earth.
« on: June 24, 2007, 09:57:09 AM »

We being allowed to handle Gods word are to be as salt.

We cook with salt so then lets take a look at this parable.

Too much salt {the tongue is as a sword) and the food is to strong to eat,

Too little salt and it is bland to the taste not to be returned to,

but just the right amount and it makes for a wonderful meal.

Wisdom and Gods speed.

Hello Randy

May we look at this from the other side?  :D

Those given to idolatry find even the smallest particle of salt to sting!

Those who love the light enjoy a salty seasoned meal of truth.

Those who have no taste for truth may want to have a salt free diet.

So are we to season our words according to the Pharisee, the seeker or the wolf? The wolf wants meat without the salt and it usually is the flesh of the sheep. Where the sheep are there too are the wolves.

I just do not think we should try to appease, placate or try to show we are right to love the light. Yes, we should discern between the teachable spirit seeking the light and the arrogant teacher of darkness.

Here in the wise words of the Scripture :

2 Tim 4 : 2,5 Preach the word of God. Be persistent...patiently CORRECT, REBUKE, and ENCOURAGE your people with good teaching....bringing others to Christ.

So there it is. Three words that lend to the balance....Correct...Rebuke...Encourage...Each of these make the salt formula don't you think....? One without the other becomes the recipe for blandness, too salty or to be trodden under foot for loss of saltiness.
Perhaps salt too has three aspects to it. Flavour, cleansing properties, good for preservation and it stings in high doses! ;D :D

Thank you for this thread.  8)

Peace be to you

Yes I agree this is a good addition to the thread.
Its good to look into and from you brothers and sisters eyes.
How can the hand become a foot or a foot into a hand?
This is what I think the forum is about coming together to understand and build  up, if it is the truth we seek then a teachable heart is a MUST.
Thanks Arcturus. - 8)
Gods speed.

PS Randy....

Salt also makes one thirsty....perhaps for the truth for those have no taste for it at first ;D So if we who are supposed to be the salt of the earth do not taste salty what hope is there for correction, edification and encouragement?....Salt stings the wounds on contact and the first response is to fight back, but salt heals and stops further erosion to health in heart and mind....I think Ray is A huge SALT CONTAINER OF THE WORD OF GOD

So without salt there can only be counterfeit love....mushy, messy and wimpy sentimentality don't you think?

......Now I will move aside for others to say something :D

Peace to you

I think eating salt right out of the box is wayyyyyyyy tooooo  much, it must be blended with kindness love and understanding.

Salt also cleans and purefies and its also know for melting ice.

If we stumble others because our words or to strong than its not even fit for the streets.
Pride is before a fall.
How many of us here have known the truth from this site and still we whimper and moam wow is me when we have problems don't we know God is in control? Where is our faith? What kind of attitude is that?

We all are beaten down and refined on a daily basis so how can we be better than others and think WE ARE STANDING when it
is on ice we dance?

Without LOVE all is in vain.

Too salty?
I thought so.
