Is Christ upon the throne, or the beast? Question regarding Conversion
lilitalienboi16:
Ok, so i know that the disciples were not converted until after Christ died, ressurected and gave them the holy spirit, but my question is.
If i continualy serve the flesh, and the lust thereof, is Christ in me, is He sitting upon the throne of my heart, or am i yet not converted?
Because the disciples before they were converted believed in Christ, and i'm sure tried to follow Him, but could not, so am i converted yet? Or does the beast still reign?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alex,
Here is a few emails that may help you.

Dear Rob:
You are right, I cannot help you overcome your carnal sins. That is something that
we all have to do between ourselves and God. God is dealing with you and will
continue to deal with you. I cannot change God's timing for what He has in store
for your life. Those of us who are maybe a little more mature, have all gone
through what you are going through. That's why the Bible calls us BEASTS. We
often think and act and desire as do BEASTS. You will not quit sinning until
God deems it time for you to quit, but in the mean time, you will come to hate
your sins, and still will not be able to overcome them. You will cry out to the only
One Who can help you. We all must make our "walk through the valley of the
shadow of death." It is not a pleasant journey, but to come through it and have
a clean and clear conscious for the first time in your life, is itself quite rewarding.
God be with you,
Ray

Dear Garrett:
Yours is a common frustration. Many write me with similar struggles
with the flesh after coming into a knowledge of the Truth. I did the
same. I left my First Love and went back into the world, all the while
knowing that I couldn't conquor my flesh. I was so happy for what I
'preceived to be "greasy grace." Thank God for grace, because I knew
I wasn't going to be saved without it.
I still believe that that part of it is true (about saved by grace only), but
I also know that it is possible when God gets ready, to conquor your
major sins so that sin no longer "reigns over you." You will not be totally
perfect and mature, but you will not be giving into every pull of the flesh,
for sexual gratification, lust for money, power, good looks, eternal youth,
perfect health, interesting job, travel and excitement, etc., etc., etc. You
will learn to enjoy the simple pleasure of life like, breathing, sleeping,
walking, talking to your wife, eating a pizza, and going to bed early on a
Saturday night.
God will make you really WANT to stop sinning, long before you will
ACTUALLY stop sinning. It's part of the struggle; part of the good
fight of faith; part of overcoming the flesh. Don't become discouraged, as
God WILL SEE YOUR THROUGH!
God be with you,
Ray

Is there anyone capable of stopping to personally sin in their lifetime on earth? Can you? I make the effort but at times fall short, most things about the Bible are confusing to me, especially if I try to ponder on them. Does this mean that God is purposefully making me blind to awareness? I am seeking the Lord, I have diligently been seeking understanding since I wrote you a couple months ago. I have read the majority of what you have written and it makes sense, but I am continually struggling and the more I learn, the more I realize I have to learn more! More than what you write! More!
Dear Chad:
With all due respect, it is not because of a lack of knowledge that your are not having victory over your sins. There comes a time to DO what you already know. However, I will come to your defense by stating that you will not become victorious over most of your sins unless and untill God determines that it is now time. I can only speak with authority when it comes to my own life. I had veasures of success in overcoming some things virtually the moment I learned the truth concerning them. For example, I quite using the Name of Jesus and God in profanity the week I came to realize how bad it was, and that was forty-five years ago, and I have never slipped up on it even once since then.
But the "lust of the flesh and the lust of the eys and the pride of life," are the biggies that God will allow to drag on in one's life until they really get sick of these sins. Some people never get sick of these sins--they LIKE them. But the "Goodness of God" (Rom. 2:4) can make you repent and abhore these things. We never conquer every sin as long as we are in the flesh, but we can come to the place that "sin no longer REIGNS over us." I have no desire to sin. I do not think about sinning. There is nothing in the realm of sin that has any value to me. I'll let Jesus be my Judge as to how far I have come in overcoming sin. You have to cry out to God to rescue from sin. You cannot and you will not do it on your own power.
God be with you

lilitalienboi16:
ty kat, those emails helped but still the question remains.
If i believe in Christ but continualy sin and fail to follow him mean i'm converted and have the holy spirit IN ME and CHRIST ON THE THRONE OF MY HEART?
Does haveing Christ on the throne of ure heart only happen after u have overcome [after resurection?]
Do i have the holy spirit adn am converted but still the beast on the throne of my heart?
Do i just have the holy spirit but not converted and not Christ in me? [on the throne?]
Does haveing Christ on the throne, and haveing Him in you mean the samet hing?
Does haveing the holy spirit in you mean the same thing as haveing Christ in you meaning the same as haveing Him on the throne of your heart?
Is bieng converted all these things at once, or something totaly different?
I am confused when it comes to this, do u see my confusion?
I pray someone can help me better understand the Mind of Christ in such a matter.
Love and thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
I see what you are saying, these emails I think will explain what you are asking.
http://forums.bible-truths.com/index.php/topic,4194.0.html ----------
Acts 5:32 teaches us that God gives his Spirit only to those that do obey him: Does one has to obey God before he even receive the Spirit? It is a foolish question, but people do twist the Word in similar manner to prove foolishness.
Dear Calvin:
Just as with Jesus' apostles, His spirit was WITH them long before it was IN THEM (John 14:17).
As with John's disciples, he would not baptize them until they showed proof that they already had repented. That is why he would not baptize the Pharisees, as they had no proof that they repented of their sins.

Dear Mark:
I will make a few COMMENTS...........
Hello Ray,
I have recently been looking into the workings of the Spirit and have some questions. Please guide me in the right direction.
First concerning Jesus, When did he receive the Spirit of the Lord?
COMMENT: Jesus Christ WAS CONCEIVED by the Holy Spirit!
In Is 11:1-3 it talks about the Spirit resting upon Him as opposed to those in the Old Testament whom the Spirit came upon for a specific purpose and then departed. It appears that John had the Spirit on him until Jesus' baptism, and then it seems like it left him and resided in Jesus permanently.
COMMENT: Nonsense.
Prior to his baptism, Jesus did no recorded supernatural works, did he not have the Spirit from birth? What is your take on this?
COMMENT: "Prior to baptism, Jesus had no recorded supernatural works..." Oh really? And you think that Jesus living a SINLESS LIFE as a teenager is less of a "supernatural work" than turning water into wine?
Secondly, do those in "the church" have the Spirit?
COMMENT: NO, they have "a" spirit.
If so, how did it come, why do they have it, and why is it so unproductive?
COMMENT: Oh, but their spirit of Satan is most productive. Along with doing "many wonderful works," they have succeeded in "deceiving the WHOLE WORLD."
If not, how do those in "His church" get it, since it is most often that thay come out of "the church"?
COMMENT: Coming out of the church is the only way that one will be given the Holy Spirit of God.
Speaking for myself, it certainly seems that Jesus came quickly to me a couple of months ago with new ears. After this, virtually everything I was hearing in "the church" made no sense anymore. Did I not have the Spirit prior to this?
COMMENT: I would not presume to say if or when you received God's Spirit, as I do not know you, what you believe, or how you live.
Thanks for your help
Mark
COMMENT: When sin no longer "has dominion over you," you will know that God's Holy Spirit is operating in you. Not that you will not sin, but sin will not lord it over you; you will no longer be a slave to sin; you will not be fighting sin ever moment of your day; you will be given peace in that area of your life.
God be with you,
Ray
