Thanks Jackson & Orlando, also thank you Iris for starting this topic, the OT has opened up and taken on so much more relevancy since reading Ray's material. What a treasure chest of knowledge, wisdom & truth it has become to me!

That the New Testament was not available for the Apostles when they were teaching, something that is probably overlooked by many.

What else did the Apostles have available besides the Old Testament and the Holy Spirit to teach and write the New Testament ?

Great point Orlando, look at all the times Christ Himself quoted the OT, saying "it is written."

The apostles did have Jesus as their Teacher for 3 1/2 years (Paul got a crash course in conversion/understanding) and although they did not understand most of what He taught when He told them what was to face them in the future He stated; "when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them." (John 16:4)

So much of what He did and said went right over their heads until they were given His Spirit, I can only imagine the spiritual Eureka! moments they must have had in their journeys as Christ's Words came back to them as they matured in Spirit and finally "understood."

His Peace and Wisdom to you,

Joe
