Jn18:6--As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
What is this verse saying?

The temple guards may just have been afraid of Jesus. Remember this was not the first time they had tried to arrest him. Before they simply could never lay a hand on him.

Thankyou rvhill for your reply. That may be it, Im just not sure though. I didnt know if it had something to do with him saying"I am". For God is the Great I Am, and could it be that none could stand before him. I dont know. If anyone else has some input PLEASE share it.
Thankyou rvhill

i was thinking in terms of approaching a Lion with a net.

then the Lion looks up and lets out even a muffled roar, and you suddenly realise who you are dealing with, the spiritual force of the identity you have come for is eon shaking, the shockwave of spiritual power in the declaration, so you are pushed back at speed in your puny manishness and in your awkward retreat you fall over, who can stand in His presence unbidden.

the only way you get a net on this Lion is if He wants you to :)

you only take I AM captive because He lets you LOL!

what a great moment

what a Saviour !

Joh 10:17  `Because of this doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that again I may take it;
Joh 10:18  no one doth take it from me, but I lay it down of myself; authority I have to lay it down, and authority I have again to take it; this command I received from my Father.'
