Circumcision - ouch!

(1/4) > >>

Gregor:
Greetings,
NKJV
Acts7:51, "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you."

Sunday night I was on my way to a home bible study group. I came across two vehicles stopped in the lane ahead. There were two men standing on the center-line directing traffic around them. At first I thought it must have been an accident, but as I drove by on the other side, I noticed that there was an old man slumped in his seat behind the wheel - no accident, but an apparent heart-attack. My initial instinct was to pull over and go lay hands on him and pray, but then the voice in my head said, "The other two guys are attending to him, they're calling 911 on their cell right now, so just keep going to the bible study." Sadly, I followed the latter line of thinking.
By the time I arrived at the meeting, I was in tears, the image of that man still burned in my mind. All I could think of was the parable of the good Samaritan found in Luke 10:33-37. A priest and a levite, both religious men, passed by on the other side - just like me. Ouch! I definately learned something about myself, in the blink of an eye. When God circumsizes my heart it hurts. But, I believe that it changed me forever. I hope that in the future, when I hear the still small voice and leading of the Spirit that I will follow. Needless to say, I prayed for that man anyways, as did our study group. But in sharing this story with them, it brought to light something that God is doing with them as well, individually and collectively. I pray that we all will take a moment to reflect on "who our neighbors are" and what our calling entails.
All the best,
G.

Been there, done that, Gregor, you are not alone! God did some pruning, looks like.  Thank Him for the lesson learned, and thank you for sharing!!  :)

Gregor:
Greetings,
NKJV
Luke 12:34, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
If the "theif" steals your treasure, he steals your heart. Just another tid bit I'm learning.

Hi G... just need to clarify...

I take it that you think that this is what you were supposed to do in this situation?

Thanks... I will not be able to post until way later on in the day.  Take care. :)

Greetings Janice,

You asked a really good question. I have been considering it for a while now myself. Even answering here is bringing to light what God is doing in me. I did believe that is what I should have done. I believed I missed out on the opportunity to witness a miracle (fleshly purpose), but now, foremost and utmost, to be a witness of Jesus to those who were present at the scene, and maybe even those who would later hear (spiritual purpose). My heart really was moved with compassion for the man, but my thoughts weren't right. Perhaps I was "supposed" to do exactly what I did, so that God could bring to light the thoughts of my heart:

Hebrews 4:12 says, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, peircing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

1Cor.15:45 "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit."

God is circumcising my heart, removing the "flesh-driven nature" that is still in me. I witnessed a very powerful manifestation of the gift of healing once before, and yet still missed the point. I think this time by missing what I thought was my opportunity to be obedient to the leading of the spirit, God took the opportunity to make his point! (pun intended);)

I also believe Rom.8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." One thing's for sure, I'm a definite work in progress. Thank you for asking the question. It really confirmed what God was trying to tell me. (My wife also asked me the same thing earlier and I missed the point then too.) I think I'm finally getting it. :o
Your Brother in Christ,
Greg
