Hello my name is Terry and live in Va. just wanted to say i love this site and Rays teachings, i have a question and hope someone can help, what does it mean,( many are called but few are chosen, thanks for any help.

Your question, what does it mean, many are called but few are chosen.

To me the parable of the sower and the seed explain the many called but few are chosen so well.  So many people hear the Truth right on the BT website.  Even though they believe it and even embrace it, only a very few are destined to be the chosen Elect. 

Luke 8:4  And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable:
v. 5  "A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it.
v. 6  Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture.
v. 7  And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it.
v. 8  But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold." When He had said these things He cried, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
   
Luke 8:11  "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
v. 12  Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
v. 13  But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away.
v. 14  Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.
v. 15  But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.

To be among the chosen few means Christ will be clearly first in your life above everything else.

Mat 10:34  "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
v. 35  For I have come to "set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law';
v. 36  and "a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'
v. 37  He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
v. 38  And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
v. 39  He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

Good question.  I'm trying to answer that one everyday of my life so far.  Kat gave some excellent Scripture to study. The key for me is taking up my cross everyday - something many would like to ignore.  I can only honestly say that "I am working on it". i.e., the chosen part, but by no means have arrived.  But the neat part about it is that it is "God who works in [me] to do and to will according to His good purpose" Phil 2:13  So, the fact that you are asking the question is a good sign that the Holy Spirit is working in your life to make that a reality. So, be of good cheer!

Take a look at John 6 and it will help you understand GOD"S elect. Verse 47 says it all but verse 44 paves the way. I do believe GOD wills to save all, but his chosen elect have a special standing and very few they will be. HIS blessings to you.

Welcome Terry!  You know, I've come to think of it this way: God is not trying to save the whole world right now...but intends to save all....so He has in place His "Elect" or chosen ones, those that He is bringing to maturity and who will minister justice in the age to come.....Many are called (the church) but few are chosen or "elected" by God to carry out the stage of salvation going on right now....
