Speaking of "God is everything"...
« on: May 11, 2006, 03:02:29 PM »

I wrote this a couple of days ago with no response. I'm wondering if I'm a nut job to be avoided, if no one noticed my post, if no one knew the answer, or if no one cared.   If someone resonds, I'd feel better.  Thanks

Speaking of "God is everything"...

I was reading and wondered what the definition of "faith" really was... I mean not only Bible definitions (Heb 11:1 etc) but deeper than that if there was one.

I looked up every scripture with the word faith in it.. i overanalyzed it, and looked at the greek and hebrew meanings..... and i really didn't get anywhere with the "knowledge".

While reading the Law of Moses more carefully I think the spirit hit me with it (by no work of my own, go figure!).... All I saw was how God said "I AM" ... Christ said "I am... the was the truth and the life... etc.

God is everything right? SO is Christ Faith? I know this could be old news to ya'll but I wanted some imput. I dont want to feel like I'm guessing on this... It makes sense though when I put the word Jesus in for Faith (as in Christ in you).

What do you think?

i just did what i often do and plan to do more often

i typed faith into e-sword search field with KJV with strongs numbers

found greek word strongs number 4102 and did a search for every instance of that word in the new testament

within the first few verses i started to feel the living water flow.

i say to myself frank!!

never start with an idea and go to the scriptures !

start with the scriptures then listen for the idea !

God bless you Becky following the word faith through the new testament is dynamite!

f

Mat 9:28  And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
Mat 9:29  Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
Mat 9:30  And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.
Mat 9:31  But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

Mar 9:24  And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

PS: 4100 4101 4102 4103 4104 are all fantastic and closely related !

Becky, sorry I missed that first time around.  Faith is a good subject to talk about.  It is a gift from God, so noone can boast.  This is one thing He has shown me years ago.  The faith I have now goes way past, just a belief from hearing of the word, it's into spiritual sight.  As I have posted these verses many times, but they are important:

Job 42:1
Then Job answered Yahweh and said:

Job 42:2
I know that You can do all things, And no plan of Yours can be thwarted.

Job 42:3
Who is this who obscures counsel without knowledge? Wherefore I have professed ideas when I was not understanding, Things too marvelous for me, that I did not know.

Job 42:4
Hearken now, and I myself shall speak; I shall ask of you, and you inform Me.

Job 42:5
With the hearing of the ear I had heard of You, But now my eye sees You.

Job 42:6
Therefore I sink down and repent On soil and ashes.

Notice that Job was righteous in His eyes, before He let satan test him.  It was after the severe testing that Job replies with the above words.  This brought him to the point of true sight and higher spiritual faith.  This goes way beyond what the carnally minded perceive faith to be.  To the few in each generation that are judged while in this life, we all are taken to a point where Job was.

Faith from God is different than human faith.  The gift of faith from God, makes Him a true spiritual reality, more real than the physical life we have now.  Past belief and into reality, when the Holy Spirit bears witness to us.

Hopefully more will join this thread.  Good subject.

God bless,

Thanks all..

That's what I thought!

It's amazing to see the scriptures jump out at me like this!
Also it's crazy the way I tried so hard with no lead until "smack" it hit me..
Even looking at the greek meaning shows the perfection of Christ.

I broke down every verse and summed up what the verse was saying about "faith". Here is an sample of the list I composited (There of course are many many other verses): it went something like this:

Faith(and Christ):

heals (Mat 9:2)
makes whole (mat 9:22)
gives sight (mat 9:29)
the just live by (hab 2:9)
nothing impossible with (mat 17:20)
is the weightier matter of law (mat 23:23)
forviven by (mark 2:5)
strength in (acts 3:16)
full of (acts 6:5)
obedient to (acts 6:7)
continue in (acts 14:22)
purify hearts by (acts 15:9)
churches esablished in (acts 16:5)
inheritance sanctified by (acts 26:18)
receive grace and apostleship through (Romans 1:5)

Faith, like grace is seen often by the organized church as noun only.
It is so obviously a VERB TOO! SWEET!

it is action as "He is" (I AM)

I'm not exactly looking for fast answers on this topic.. I'm just trying to digest and enjoy the process from reading and sharing in that with others discoveries. Iknow I saw some of this in rays/mikes etc letters but it didn't sink in then, ya know?  Now I'm enjoying the meal!

Now don't take this the wrong way but I got a chuckle out of it:

If Jesus is Faith
And Jesus is faithful,
then Jesus is in a sense full of himself?

(again, please dont take it the wrong way... I'm just sharing a pun.)

Rom 11:36  For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Everything is ABOUT JESUS CHRIST.

CHRIST IS THE WORD MADE FLESH.

The old testement, the NEW TESTEMENT. Everything Applies to Christ on such a higher level, that is why the Disciples could quote scripture about Jesus birth, that when kept in context to the naked eye seemed to have nothing to do with Jesus.

Christ had been explaining it to them for years. In Luke 24:44-45, Christ
simply opened their spiritual minds (previously blinded and veiled) to
understand and remember what He had been showing them all along. The
principle is "…as he is so are we in this world" (I John 4:17). Christ was
rejected by the church. His doctrine was more than they could receive. If
all of the "out of context" verses we have quoted, from virtually every
writer of the New Testament, is any indication of what Christ had been
teaching them, it is clear (Matt. 10:24) "The disciple is not above his
master, nor the servant above his lord…(vs. 40) "He that receiveth you,
receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth Him that sent me."

Matt. 25:40 and 45 sum it up thusly: "Inasmuch as you have done it unto one
of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
"

In other words, Christ had taught his apostles over and over that anything
that applied to any of the Old Testament patriarchs or prophets or Israel or
any particular Israelite ("one of the least of these my brethren") will, and
does apply to Christ. Also, anything that applies to Christ as the head of
His body, will apply to any part of His body, or to any part of spiritual
Israel.

If the head must suffer, the body must suffer with it. (Rom. 8:17 and II
Tim. 2:12.) "As He is, so are we in this world" (I John 4:17).

If Christ were hated, we will be hated also. (Matt. 10:22-25)

What applies to David or any Old Testament patriarch or prophet or
Israelite, will apply to Christ and through Christ to us, His body.

This is the principle upon which the apostles had been discipled for so long
and so repeatedly that it needed no apology or explanation, because it was
so universally understood at that time, but it is lost today.

Truly amazing article and what a spiritual eye opener it is, atleast for me.

God bless!

I see faith as the first step in our journey with Him, our faith in His Word (which is a gift) is what is added to us unto perfection (maturity). Starting out tiny and fragile it grows like the mustard seed;

Mar 4:31  It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:

Mar 4:32  But when it is sown, it groweth up and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

Is the growing of our faith an easy and a smooth experience?

1Pe 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Heb 12:11  Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Who are the Kingdom;

Mat 13:43  Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Although faith is the beginning and the most fragile part of our early walk, through His Spirit it grows and bears the fruits of (the Spirit) virtue, knowledge, temperence, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness & charity (love). This perfect charity/love is the kingdom

G26
ἀγάπη
agapē
ag-ah'-pay
From G25; love, that is, affection or benevolence; specifically (plural) a love feast: - (feast of) charity ([-ably]), dear, love.
