No actually it's a running joke that if you ask a guy what kind of car he drives they give you make model year and possibly engine size, and women say the color b/c they don't know anything else about it. Not true by any means but that's where it comes from :).

Back in my day, it was actually worse than now...the only way to get any male to take you seriously was to learn "car-lingo" and throw it around....which I did quite well without actually knowing what I was talking about most of the time! The little bit that I did know, however, seems to be more than than what the young men know today! I can't tell you the number of times I've had to show the gas station attendant HOW to check transmission fluid in a stick shift! ehheeh!  :D they really get a good laugh when this old woman gets out there under the hood to show Johnny a thing or two!

Lol that's funny Joyce! My mom is the same way, had to earn the respect so she had to learn and looks at the young kids like ::). It certainly would be nice, though, if that joke were a compliment but sadly it's more sexism :-\. Oh well, we ladies know why God said it's not good for man to be alone ;).
