"Modern Jews, on the other hand, reject the idea of rebuilding the Temple and resuming sacrifices. They call their houses of prayer "temples," believing that such houses of worship are the only temples we need, the only temples we will ever have, and are equivalent to the Temple in Jerusalem. This idea is very offensive to some traditional Jews, which is why you should be very careful when using the word Temple to describe a Jewish place of worship."

You not not familiar with The Temple Institute in Jerusalem. http://www.templeinstitute.org/main.htm  They are in the process of rebuilding or remanufacturing all of the Temple fixtures.  This last Passover they had an Instructional Sacrifice.  They fully expect that the Temple will be rebuilt and will be ready to refurnish it when it is.

Hi Kitt,

Actually I am a little familiar with the effort by some Jews to rebuild the Temple, this has been a goal for some ever since Israel was (re)established as a nation in 1948. They have more than a small problem though due to the location of the Muslim Dome of the Rock.

The quote you attributed to me was actually from the site where I gathered the info on the Temple and Synagogues, it did not originate from me, I am not that smart!  ;)  http://www.jewfaq.org/toc.htm

This site has plenty of interesting information on Israel, Jewish people, non Jews in Israel and many traditions associated with historic Israel/Jerusalem.

Peace,

Joe

Hey Joe,

I don't know how they are going to do it, but the Temple will be rebuilt at some time in the future.  This is a subject that I am very interested in because I believe that Yeshua will not return until after the temple is rebuilt in answer to prophesy.  Whether they decide that the Dome of the Rock is actually where the Court of the Gentiles was or there is an earthquake that destroys that abomination or it is blown up in a war or by terrorists, the temple will be rebuilt and the daily sacrifice reinstituted.  I believe that this has to come to pass just as Israel was prophesied to be and was reborn out of the ashes of the Holocaust.

I know that Israel is a secular state in a way and at the same time makes allusions and concessions to the Orthodoxy who would have it be a theocracy, but there are many thousands of pious Jews in Israel who believe that they have kept the faith along the lines of the 7000 who were in Israel during the time of Elijah, (1Kings 19:18).  The same people are the ones Paul describes in Romans 10 and 11.

I'll stop my rant now, but I watch the news with bated breath looking for the destruction of the Dome of The Rock.

Craig:
Kitt,

Are you really sure the temple must be a physical structure?  I'm not saying it is not, its just that the more I study the more I see that may not be the case.
