In over my head
« on: June 06, 2008, 05:58:15 PM »

I was looking for an avatar and stumbled onto this site.

http://schooloffish.wordpress.com/2007/10/08/why-would-a-good-god-create-evil-video/

I was clearly in over my head, but it was an interesting conversation.

MG , you did a good job but you you were showing something to someone who cannot hear or see....but we never know what God has planned for him in this life do we ?

His arguments were not over your head. Do not be fooled because of his apologetic rhetoric. Did you read his Santa Clause  blog...just shows that he can't see anything...he is not going to let go of any of his idols of the heart right now.

Let's see if he reads your link to Ray. Thenhe wil see a real apologetic at work

Good Rebuke MG

Thanks Beloved.

One more thought on this belief that in the absence of good there is evil or in the absence of light is darkness. Only God is good and he is never absent.

Mark 10:18
"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good—except God alone.

Psalm 139
1 O LORD, you have searched me
       and you know me.
 2 You know when I sit and when I rise;
       you perceive my thoughts from afar.

 3 You discern my going out and my lying down;
       you are familiar with all my ways.

 4 Before a word is on my tongue
       you know it completely, O LORD.

 5 You hem me in—behind and before;
       you have laid your hand upon me.

 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
       too lofty for me to attain.

 7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
       Where can I flee from your presence?

 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
       if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
       if I settle on the far side of the sea,

 10 even there your hand will guide me,
       your right hand will hold me fast.

 11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me
       and the light become night around me,"

 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
       the night will shine like the day,
       for darkness is as light to you.

Romans 11:
36For from him and through him and to him are all things.
      To him be the glory forever! Amen.

MG,

I thought you did a great Job explaining and had a gracious spirit.  He must not know that the Apostles did
exactly what he is telling you not to do (reading in context)!

Hi M.G.,

I agree with Beloved and Brenda that you did a good job responding to this guy.  You gave him a good witness to the truth of God's word.  It did not appear that you were "in over your head."  In fact, he contradicted himself when he tried to explain the "free agency" baloney.

I found myself in a "no freewill" discussion with a relative on yesterday and, likewise, he was not able to receive this truth at this time.  My relative ended our conversation by saying that he will pray that God will help him to see this.  I rejoiced (to myself) that he actually made that statement.

p.s. -It was great that you posted the link to BT.

M.G. you did a great job and he seems very sincere and kind, so it was nice the way you kept it.  Rene is right....you can't argue with someone that has not had these truths revealed to him by God's Spirit. I like what you said:
One more thought on this belief that in the absence of good there is evil or in the absence of light is darkness. Only God is good and he is never absent.

What a GREAT thought! What a wondeful TRUTH! :)

Hello M.G.

Great response. All we can do is hope he sees.

One thing I can never understand with these sort of arguments is this: How do they get around these verses and many others that speak so?

Ephesians 3:8-12
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
9 and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ,
10 with the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known through the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 according to the eternal purpose which He hath purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord
,
12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him.

Revelation 10:6-7
6 And he swore by Him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are therein, and the earth and the things that are therein, and the sea and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer,
7 but that in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as He hath declared to His servants the prophets.

Then again I have to remember what both these verses have stated. It's a mystery of God.

All Glory to a God that creates evil for Good.
What a mystery...

Hi! M.G.

Goodness gracious me what is that idiot talking about! He talks about God and gives the impression that he hasn't read the Word of God. Now, bless my soul how is that possible?  As Ray would say, "What a crock! Unbelievable! Unbelievable!"

Get away quick in case you get infected with the deadly virus, there's a lot of that going round these days, it's got to epidemic proportions. I hope you got away in time.

God bless you brother in our joint walk in Christ.

Love in Christ Jesus.
