EKnight:
I read this from http://bible-truths.com/towers.htm

"This, know also, that IN THE LAST DAYS, perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent  [without self-control], fierce [brutal], despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady [reckless], high-minded [haughty], lovers of pleasures more than [rather than] lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away… EVER learning, and NEVER able to come to the knowledge of the truth" (II Tim. 3:1-7).

And at first I thought 'this describes my eldest child to a tee'  then I read it aloud to my husband and 17 year old daughter and asked them what does this sound like (and I had a thought in my mind other than my eldest), and my daughter answered "my generation", and that is the exact thought I had.

I really do believe this.  Now, I know that other generations have been like this but not to this magnitude.  I hear my sisters and brother talk about their children (also of this young generation) and they all complain about these very same things that II Tim. 3:1-7 speaks of.

Am I misinterpreting here?

Not to be glib, but at my worst, this sounds like me.  There's nothing in that list that isn't or hasn't been a part of my flesh.

It's great that your daughter sees this the way she does.  I hope it inspires her to be different.

It may be true that the generations are waxing worse and worse, but I can't be too proud of mine either (counting myself as a late baby-boomer).  Other than that, I am unable to answer in any end-time type of reasoning.

I do not beleive you are misinterpting anything. I do beleive this genration is worse than the one before and the one after will be worse than this one (if it is God's will to have another genaration). I do not think they will be many more gen. to come, but this is just my opinion.

Hi Eileen,

As we know, from the start man's "heart was only evil continually."

Gen 6:5  Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
What has occured to me is that people are not really getting worse, but there are just so many people.  Here is a chart that vividly makes this point.

http://www.people.eku.edu/ritchisong/317notes3.html

As of July 2008, the world's population is estimated to be just over 6.68 billion.  In the last few centuries, the number of people living on Earth has increased many times over. By the year 2000, there were 10 times as many people on Earth as there were 300 years ago. According to data from the CIA's 2007 factbook the world human population increased by 211,090 people every day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_population

I think the world is so much worse because there are so many people!

Thanks Kat: This just gave me another way of looking at this subject. Are people worse or does it just seem this way because there's more people on the earth?
