Confused about something Ray said concerning what happens in the Lake of Fire

--- Quote from: Amrhrasach on July 18, 2008, 04:35:44 PM ---It makes me think of this verse:
2 Peter 3:8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
In linear time, or dynamical time, a thousand years seems a great distance. But in spiritual time, just one day.

This answer works for me.

Hi Paul,
--- Quote ---How long does it take to burn up? 1,000 years, like Kat says?
--- End quote ---
2Peter 3:7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
v. 8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
v. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
The 1000 years are symbolic and mean a period of time. As this Scripture shows "one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day," so it seems that it means for however long it takes.
As judgment begins when Jesus Christ returns to rule on earth, it will last for each individual for as long as it takes for them to repent and come to salvation. I don't see how it would take long for John the Baptist, the Prophets and such. But for others it could take a really long time.

Thanks, Kat.
Can't you just imagine Isaiah meeting Christ and hearing the fulfilled gospel he prophecied? No, I suspect it won't take long. God bless him.
Paul:
Thanks.

Okay one thing I disagree with is the fact that people wil infact burn for ever. This is clearly stated in Rev. 14:10 and 11 the 1000 years is where Jesus will reign without Satan. Satan will be throughn in the great abuss till the time of Judgment day
