Tithing
« on: August 01, 2008, 11:37:17 PM »

Ray,

Who are you to discourage or even preach/teach against Christians honoring the Lord through their tithes and offerings?  If our father Abraham and his descendants honored the Lord, then why shouldn't "New Testament Christians" honor the Lord?  Obviously you do not have complete, full, and perfect understanding of Romans 15:4, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, and Hebrews 13:8.  Nor does it appear that you have understanding that comes from the Lord about the breadth and depth of Romans 6:14, 1 Corinthians 2:13-15, Galatians 5:18, 1 Timothy 1:9.  I pray that the Lord God Almighty brings you to repentance through godly sorrow (2 Corinthians 7:9-10) for polluting/perverting the Word of God (e.g., Galatians 1:6-10) and for leading the flock astray (e.g., Jeremiah 23, Ezekiel 34).

Your preaching and teaching also contradicts the reality of the blessings that Christians receive through obedience to the Lord and belief in His Word (e.g., Psalm 91, Isaiah 54:13-17, Malachi 3:10-12, Mark 16:17-18).  May the Word of Lord in Psalm 15, Proverbs 3:5-9, Malachi 3:7-18, Matthew 15:8-9, Mark 7:6-7, 1 Corinthians 9:14, 2 Corinthians 2:17, Colossians 2:8, 1 Timothy 4:1-2, 2 Timothy 3:5-7, Titus 1:16, Hebrews 10:30-31, James 3:1, 1 Peter 4:17-18, and 2 Peter 3:16 convict you and bring you to repentance.

In Christ,

Brian

1 Corinthians 6:2-3, James 5:19-20

Dear Brian: Since you have not even a clue as to what the "commandment" and "tithing LAW" really is (Heb. 7:5), you are not entitled to an opinion as to whether New Covenant Tithing of "money" is in accordance with either the Old or the New Covenant. We can no more honor God with our "tithes" than we can with our "burnt offerings." There ARE NO tithes or burnt offerings under the New Covenant. And where in the world did you ever hear of Abraham honoring God with the tithes of his own personal property?  And Jacob said he would tithe ONLY IF God first made him rich.  This teaching that tithing of money (money was never ever a titheable commodity) under the New Covenant is one of those "damnable heresies" which Peter spoke of and which people like you will have to bitterly repent of, ONE DAY (Acts 17:31). And "woe" be unto anyone who teaches that Believers ought to give unto the God the MONEY WHICH BELONGS TO CAESAR!!

Sincerely,

Ray
