Ex Nihilo?
« on: May 19, 2006, 05:37:06 PM »

In the beginning God created the heavens and earth....

Question:  Did God creat the universe "out of nothing"?

Some say that this is not so, but, it is true that God could have created the universe ex nihilo.  I can't seem to find any scriptures that support the ex nihilo idea, at least I can't seem to find a verse that specifically says that.  Nevertheless, I believe that nothing is too hard for God! :D

What are your thoughts?  Does Ray or Mike say anything about this in any of their writings?  Perhaps someone can give me a link to an article?

Thanks.

If He can make something USEFUL out of US He CAN indeed "make something" out of NOTHING

I just had to say it

I never heard of those words before, I'd be curious what others say

Rom 11:36  because of Him, and through Him, and to Him are the all things; to Him is the glory--to the ages. Amen.

the greek word for of in "of Him" there at the beginning of the verse is

ek  /  ex
Thayer Definition:
1) out of, from, by, away from

out of

so God created all things out of Himself and through Christ

in Him we live and move and have our being.

i've never really understood the ex nihilo thing because nothing is nothing

i've seen it as a giant expedition as in

out of God comes Christ

through Christ comes creation

Christ enters creation

Christ reconciles all creation

Christ generates the elect

the kingdom

all enemies subdued

the elect subject to Christ

Christ subject to God

GOD ALL IN ALL

expedition finished

cant wait to see the next bit!

The same word that means "Begining" is also translated "Firstfruit"

Begining = Heb.7225 Reshiyth - Firstfruits

Leveticus 23:10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits[Begining - Reshyith same word in genesis 1:1] of your harvest unto the priest:

Gensis 1:1 In the [begining- Reshyith]Firstfruits God created the heaven and the earth.

WItness 1

Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness[JESUS CHRIST], the beginning of the creation of God;

Witness 2

Col 1:16 For by Him[The firstborn - Reshyith] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

In other words, IN CHRIST GOD CREATED ALL....

Hope that helps alittle more.

God bless,

Alex
