Question....? by the Moody Blues
« on: September 09, 2008, 09:40:20 PM »

The Moody Blues (written by Justin Hayward)

The Question.....
[coming out of bablyon]

Why do we never get an answer ?
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?
'Cos when we stop and look around us,
There is nothing that we need,
In a world of persecution
That is burning in its greed.

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the war of love is for

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me
It's more the way that you mean it
When you tell me what will be

And when you stop and think about it
You won't believe it's true
That all the love you've been giving
Has all been meant for you.

I'm looking for someone to change my life,
I'm looking for a miracle in my life
And if you could see what it's done to me,
To lose the love I knew
Could safely lead me through.

Between the silence of the mountains,
And the crashing of the sea,
There lies a land I once lived in,
And she's waiting there for me,
But in the grey of the morning,
My mind becomes confused,
Between the dead and the sleeping,
And the road that I must choose.

I'm looking for someone to change my life,
I'm looking for a miracle in my life
And if you could see what it's done to me,
To lose the love I knew,
Could safely lead me to
The land that I once knew,
To learn as we grow old
The secrets of our soul.

It's not the way that you say it
When you do those things to me
It's more the way you really mean it
When you tell me what will be

Why do we never get an answer
When we're knocking at the door
With a thousand million questions
About hate and death and war?
'Cos when we stop and look around us,
There is nothing that we need,

In a world of persecution
That is burning in its greed.

[OK....no laughing at the hair....]

Can't watch it, Brenda, but I've got it playing in my head.  Great stuff.  Thanks.

Another mainstream rock group that sang lyrics about Christian themes was Kansas. They used to actually give out bibles at their concerts in the 1980's.

Here is one example:

Look in the mirror and tell me    Just what you see
What have the years of your life   Taught you to be
Innocence dyin' in so many ways    Things that you dream of are lost
Lost in the haze     Hold on, Baby Hold on
Cause it's closer than you think    And you're standing on the brink
Hold on, Baby Hold on     Cause there's something on the way
Your tomorrow's not the same as today
Don't you recall what you felt    When you weren't alone
Someone who stood by your side    A face you have known
Where do you run when it's too much to bear
Who do you turn to in need    When nobody's there
Outside your door He is waiting    Waiting for you
Sooner or later you know    He's got to get through
No hesitation and no holding back    Let it all go and you'll know
You're on the right track

Lol that's the kind of music my dad always listened to that my mother made fun of him for. I never realized the lyrics were so deep. Thank you for posting this Brenda.
P.S. Their hair looks much better than the hair on the "musicians" nowadays ::). Don't agree? Search for the Jonas Brothers and you will see what I mean.

lol @ Krista

I actually like long hair on guys.  I confess I still have a bit of the 60-70's Hippie in me.  ;)
My Husband actually has longer hair than me! :o

My Grandmother who is 91 years old is always after him to cut it.
She has no idea that just encourages him more to grow it longer... ;D

I'm kinda glad to see it coming back...but when it starts falling out, it's time to get the remainder cut.   :D

I don't have to see the vid to imagine, Brenda...just drag out my High School yearbooks.
