A heart touching verse.
« on: September 11, 2008, 11:49:02 PM »

I feel like sharing.

This verse, to me, strikes deeply.  It's one of those verses that you read it.......feel good about it.......then you get busy with life's usual and mundane challenges. .......then you come across it again and it hits you like a slap reminder.  (not that a slap is a great feeling, but you get my point .. ;)

Here it is.

John 10:27   "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.

To me?

Silence, but with hearing.

Warmth.

Destiny.

Power.

But most importantly:

Belonging.

But that's just me.

What is the verse(s) that sober your thoughts?

Please share.

I did.

Psalm 141
I call upon thee, O Lord; make haste to me!

...Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord,
keep watch over the door of my lips...

Let the wicked fall into their own nets,
 while I escape.

Luke 15:1-7
I love the parable of the one lost sheep where he leaves the 99 to find the one lost.

I am not sure what Ray believes about this verse.  I was wondering if the one sheep is the one chosen out of the 99.

That is something to think about, I had always considered he had left the 99 to save the last lost one.

John 17:3And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent

Jer 5:3 O LORD, are not Your eyes on the truth?
      You have stricken them,
      But they have not grieved;
      You have consumed them,
But they have refused to receive correction
.

This verse in Jer blew me away. For the first time I understood what being "consumed" meant.

"...though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him..." Job 13:15

I think about Shadrac, Meshac & Abednego who said: "God can save us from your furnace, but even if He doesn't, we still won't bow to your idol!"
