Hi Trish,

--- Quote ---So are you saying that in order to be Righteous one must have the Holy Spirit indwelling within them
--- End quote ---

We have this Scripture.

Rom 3:10  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

So how does a person become righteous?  Only if Christ/Holy Spirit is living in you.

Rom 3:22  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe:

Eph 2:8  For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

So righteousness is by faith, which is a gift of God, to those that believe.

Rom 5:19  For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.

"by one Man's obedience" that is the sacrifice of Christ, that only applies to His chosen few at this time, but that is how everyone "will be made righteous."

Php 2:8  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

--- Quote ---Act 5:32  And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.

Not sure of your point in this scripture in regards to (those who do not obey the (GOSPEL) are of their father the devil).
--- End quote ---

The Scripture says "the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."   So it stand to reason if those who have the Holy Spirit obey God, then the rest can not obey because they do not have the Holy Spirit.  And here is the quote from Ray's email in my last post, ALL who disobey God and follow the Devil are the children [seed] of Satan.

Hope this was of some help.

Hi

The seed of eve compared to the seed of satan.  Either we are comparing physical seed to physical seed or spiritual to spiritual?

We know Jesus is physically descended from Eve but no one is physically descended from satan as he does not have "the apparatus" as Ray would say.

Therefore we should compare the spiritual with the spiritual.  Satan is the father of sin, when we sin we are of the father of sin.  When we act in righteousness (toward being saved-through the indwelling of the holy spirit and belief in the truth IIThess 2:13) we are of Jesus' Father, of our Father.

It boils down to two competing interests.  Paul says it in so many ways as to hide it, shall we be slaves to righteousness or slaves to sin?  We will be dead to sin or dead in sin.  Will we be a vessel of honor or dishonor?  Will we be sons of God or sons of Satan?  How long can we make this list of opposites?

God takes the simple and makes it complicated, takes the complicated and makes it so simple.

Here's one more for you, Trish:

"And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD." (Gen. 4:1)

Now does it say anywhere in the text that Satan "knew" Eve and she conceived? No. Does Eve say she has gotten a man from Satan? Again, no. Now for the interesting part:

"And she again bare his brother Abel." (v.2)

All throughout the OT, the little phrase "she knew her husband" always precedes the birth of a son or daughter. Adam "knew" his wife and she conceived Cain. But does it say he "knew" her again before Abel was born? No. Therefore, the logical conclusion is that Cain and Abel were TWINS!

No satanic seed here.  ;)

Peace
