Simon - Deny Yourself

(1/1)

daywalker:
Hey there,

I was reading the book of Matthew tonight, and I noticed something I thought worth sharing...

I came to Chapter 27, where the Roman guards ordered a man, named Simon, to carry the cross for Jesus [verses 31-32]. Out of curiosity, I went to this website called www.behindthename.com [which gives an etymology for names], and typed in "Simon", and this is the first sentence:

SIMON: From the Greek form of the Hebrew name Shim'on which meant, "He has heard".

I thought this was amazing, as I recalled Jesus Commandment to His Followers:

If anyone is wanting to come after Me, let him renounce himself and pick up his cross and follow Me - Matthew 16:24 & Luke 9:23

-Along with the infamous words:

Who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Hey Christopher,
I'm not quite sure I understand what your getting at, could you elaborate?

Beloved:
These are many of these interesting insights

Christopher is showing us a living parable..."he who has ears" carrys the spiritual cross as Jesus commanded.

In the literal world a man name Simon ( means he who hears) is orderd to carry the physical cross for Jesus.

Yes even the names can be important.

I'd have to say that's "Cool"  8)

Thanks for sharing,
