The Lord added to the Church daily...
Ninny:
I was reading in Acts 2 and I think it's interesting how it says in Acts 2:41that when the disciples went out preaching that three thousand souls were added to their number...and so on.
There seems to be a lot of one on one interaction between the disciples and people they were preaching to. It says in Acts 2:47 also that "the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." I don't remember reading that before! You think of the disciples going out preaching and people accepting the message, but that passage in Acts2:47 kind of made me stop!
I just thought "Oh, God was dragging them even then!" So what I'm reading is that the disciples presented the word and God brought the people to hear it! I also thought of the many people they encountered when they spoke in the temple and meeting from "house to house" That is just interesting to me that God gave us the example of how we are to present the truth. I don't understand how that turned into what we have today in the churches! I guess it's the old "idols of the flesh" thing, huh? I suppose it was that sinful selfishness that got us where we are today? Just some musing on my part, I just thought I'd share my confusion with you!! ;)
You may not Understand what I'm asking here...I don't know either!! I'm just sharing an observation! :D

Hi Kathy,
When you read the Scriptures, the words are to you now, look at the 3 Scriptures below.
They are speaking to you now, if you hear and see, then your ears and eyes are now open.
Joh 6:63
It is the Spirit that makes alive, the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and are life.
2Ti 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
Rev 3: 9-11
9 Behold, I give out of those of the synagogue of Satan, those saying themselves to be Jews and are not, but lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
10 Because you have kept the Word of My patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation which will come upon all the habitable world, to try those who dwell upon the earth.
11 Behold, I come quickly. Hold fast to that which you have, so that no one may take your crown.

Ninny:

God is very interesting, isn't He? :D I'm glad He's on my side!!

Kathy,
Before our eyes were open, we believed there were two equal sides battling. Not so according to the scriptures.
Exo 16:8
Then Moses said, "It is the LORD who will give you meat to eat in the evening and as much bread as you want in the morning, because he has heard how much you have complained against him. When you complain against us, you are really complaining against the LORD."
Deu 18:22
When a prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah, if the thing does not follow nor come to pass, that is the thing which Jehovah has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You shall not be afraid of him.
Isa 45: 5-12
5 I am Jehovah, and there is none else, no God besides Me; I clothed you, though you have not known Me;
6 that they may know from the rising of the sun, and to the sunset, that there is none besides Me. I am Jehovah, and there is none else;
7 forming the light and creating darkness; making peace and creating evil. I Jehovah do all these things.
8 Drop down from above, O heavens, and let the clouds pour down righteousness. Let the earth open, and let salvation bear fruit; and let righteousness spring up together. I Jehovah have created it.
9 Woe to him who fights with the One who formed him, a potsherd among the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to its former, What are you making? Or your work, He has no hands?
10 Woe to him who says to his father, What are you fathering? Or to the woman, What are you laboring over?
11 So says Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, and the One who formed him, Do you ask Me of things to come? Do you give command to Me about My sons, and about the work of My hands?
12 I have made the earth, and created man on it; I with My hands have stretched out the heavens; and all their host have I commanded.
Again i say to nonbelievers; my Daddy Can kick your daddy's butt any time he wishes.

Ninny:
Awesome! Those are some pretty profound scriptures, Oh yeah! Did you say that to kids who bullied you in school? ;D if they only knew who your daddy is they would have run for their lives! I think about God as daddy sometimes when I think of my own dad, he wasn't a perfect dad by any stretch of the imagination, but I always KNEW even though he barely weighed 130 lbs IF he was you know, Soaking wet as they say, but i knew without a doubt that my daddy could kick anyone's butt! Just to think that with God as daddy NO one can stand up to Him!! :D :D
Thanks for that reminder, too!
Kathy ;)
