Where can I learn more about the word aion? I would like to eventually organize a paper, after I have learned enough.

There's a nice piece on the word here:  http://www.tentmaker.org/books/Aion_lim.html

And of course research the usage of the word in Scripture.

Also it's good to understand both sides of the argument: http://www.whenistherapture.com/unending_torment.html
