Good Movie
aqrinc:
Hi Eileen,
Read the Scripture verses below; then think about how good you need to be to achieve any of the Highlighted passages. Either you believe and trust that The Scriptures are True and Alive and GOD Inspired; or not.
Isa 53: 3-8 (MKJV)
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as it were a hiding of faces from Him, He being despised, and we esteemed Him not.
4 Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on Him; and with His stripes we ourselves are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, each one to his own way; and Jehovah has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed, and He was afflicted; yet He opened not His mouth. He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter; and as a sheep before its shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.
Rom 3: 10-12 (MKJV)
10 as it is written: "There is none righteous, no not one;
11 there is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God."
12 "They are all gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable, there is none that does good, no, not one."

Deborah-Leigh:
I believe Paul speaks of your grief Eileen.
2 Cor 7 : 8 For even though I did grieve you with my letter (the life of Desmond Doss) I do not regret it now, though I did regret it: for I see that the letter, (that life of Desmond Doss) did pain you, though only for a little while: 9. Yet I am glad now, not because you were pained, but because you were pained into repentance for you felt a grief such as God meant you to feel......
In the teaching on Repentance at http://forums.bible-truths.com/index.php/topic,3709.0.html Ray says quote "When you repent of all the wrong things you have done, YOU HAVE NOT YET REPENTED OF ALL THAT NEEDS TO BE REPENTED OF. (Caps mine)
Repenting of what you DO is half way. Repenting of what you ARE is the other half. Ray says quote "I don't want to scare you but I want you to have a better understanding of just what a human being is."
As Ray teaches us quote "The presence of God coming into your life (THE PRESENCE OF GOD COMING INTO YOUR LIFE EILEEN) will drive out this beast (the carnal mind). And then you 'll begin to understand things that you have never understood before.
Perhaps you have never understood before that you or I or anyone can drive out our beast or overthrow the "man of sin" that sits in each of us before quote Many people have come to know Christ in their senior years, and God does not literally beat every little old lady with whips and rods when they turn to Him. However, the chastening of God’s grace which we read about in Titus 2:11 can certainly seem like a real flogging. God will chasten us until He drives out the beast in us. The beast of supposed "free will" which is really self-will does not want to leave peaceably! It takes the very presence of Jesus Christ to dispel the beast of humanistic self-determinism, commonly called "free will." http://bible-truths.com/lake3.html
It is not up to you to beat yourself up. It is not up to us to drive or defeat our demons and beasts. God is supernaturally abundantly able to save us all and His process includes showing us who we are and how helplessly dependent we are apon Him to do what we can not do. It is the Plan of God to not share His Glory or in anyway tarnish our minds into thinking that we were or are able to do anything that only a Sovereign God can and will do.
God knows the plans He has for ALL of us.
1 Peter 5 : 10 The God of all grace, who imparts all blessing and favour, who has called you (and I an all of us here in BT) to HIS own eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will HIMSELF complete and MAKE YOU( and I and all of us ) what you OUGHT to be, (God knows what we OUGHT to be. He knows the beginning from the end) establish and ground you securely and strengthen and settle you.
We all need God to do what only God can do.
John 6 :29.. the work is to believe....
How can we come to know Eph 3 : 19 ...REALLY COME TO KNOW practically THROUGH EXPERIENCE for myself (ourselves, our griefs) the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge without experience, that I (we, YOU and us) may be filled through all my being (your being) unto all the fullness OF GOD, may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with GOD HIMSELF.
It has to hurt a little....Don't loose heart neither be discouraged.
Arc
Marlene:
Eileen, Great Scriptures George and Arc has shown. None of us are good. Just, having my eyes opened and ears to hear showed me just how lost I was. This verse here speaks volumes.
Philippians Chapter 3 verse 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, ac cording to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Philippians Chapter 1 verse 6 Being confident of this very thing that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians Chapter 4 verse 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Jude verse 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy
This is just a few of the scriptures that uplift me and turn my eyes upon him. Without him we can do nothing to save ourself. Just seeing all the truths , that God has shown us through his servant Ray, is an eye opener. Just, think of all the lies we believed. I do not believe that it is a coincidence we found Ray's website. I know, for myself I was in great sadness and saw myself as such a failure. I needed truth that night. I pray I will always remember, what God has taken me through. We just need to trust him. The only way we get there is by his blood and the Holy Spirit living in us. It will be that way for all humanity. Hope these scriptures comfort you.
In HIs Love,
Marlene
EKnight:
Thanks everyone for you uplifting words.
I was really moved by this movie so I think about it a lot. My husband has a hard time with the free will thing so whenever I get the chance to show him a circumstance where God clearly is in control I like to point it out. That was the case with this movie. I said told him to notice how Desmond Doss obeyed the word of God and God was clearly protecting him while he did God's work. My husband responded in agreement referencing the Japanese soldier whose rifle jammed every time he had Desmond Doss in his line of fire. I think he agreed that this was all of God.
Just thought I'd share that slice of good news with you guys.
Eileen
