Saved from what? Should I even want to be saved?
daywalker:
Hello Tebza,
Before one can answer the question, "What are we saved from?", one must know what SALVATION means:
http://bible-truths.com/lazarus:
"Salvation" was never part of the New Testament Greek Vocabulary.....the word "salvation"....was "health"...the very oldest Anglo-Saxon Scriptures translate it "health" not "salvation."
Jesus Christ is the "Savior of the World". How so? How did He demonstrate that He is our Savior? He HEALED people.
When reading the Scriptures, think of being "saved" as being HEALED...
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save [heal] his people from their sins.
Luke 4:16-21:
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised [if you are 'bruised' then you need to be healed], To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
Luke 19:10 For the Son of Mankind came to seek and to save [heal] the lost ...Concordant Literal Version
I John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
WE ARE NOT THE "WORKS OF THE DEVIL". OUR SINS ARE THE "WORKS OF THE DEVIL". HENCE...
John 1:29 The next day John sees Jesus coming unto him, and says, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world
May God guide you, my friend,
