Title: Marriage
Post by: Craig on May 20, 2006, 12:48:06 PM
Hi Ray,

Thanks for your great site with lots of inspiring and
clarifying words!

I have a question regarding marriage. If we are not
> part of a church, how does one get married? What does
> the Bible say about marriage in regard to the ceremony
> that is declaring a couple as husband and wife? What
> is the Biblical way to get married? Does one need a
> priest to give God's blessing over the union?

> Also, what about marriages where one of the parts is
> an agressor and treating the spouse in a destructive
> way with either physical or mental violence? I don't
> know what is right in these situations, when there is
> violence or abuse involved. My immediate reaction
> would be that a divorce or separation would be the
> best, if the agression doesn't end. I know that the

> However, I'm not sure about what is right to do in

Dear Eirik:

I get asked similar questions on a regular basis. It takes too long to answer these involved situations for me to rewrite my answers over and over dozens of times. Right now I have 471 emails that are waiting to be answered. If I gave each one the time needed to answer thoroughly with Scriptural references, it would take me a whole year. Then I would have many thousands of unanswered emails waiting to be answered in the following ten years. See the problem?  I will write a short paper on this subject when I have finished other projects such as my Lake of Fire Series.

God be with you,

Ray

PS   Sometimes divorce IS a Scriptural option.

Hello Ray,

Thank you, I really wasn't expecting an answer, I
perfectly understand your email and time "problem". :)

Reading your last article "Praying by God's Rules" I
learned that electronic mail is something that takes
up a great deal of your life. :)

Thanks be to God for what you are doing through
bible-truths.com. Being given understanding about the
simple truth that God is in control of EVERYTHING, as
opposed to running an emergency operation, really gave
me peace.

God bless you!
Eirik
