Title: Spirit and or in spirit bodies?
Post by: gallenwalsh on April 29, 2010, 09:48:01 PM
I have been under the understanding that God the Father is spirit,( no body, just spirit ) Jesus Christ is spirit in a spirit body and he looks like and is a perfect man( the word was made flesh and dwelt among us) and we shall be like him too, spirit in spirit bodies. However I just read a statement from Ray stating that Christ is spirit and the Father is spirit and we shall be spirit and have spirit bodies. That differentiating us from them, they are spirit we shall have bodies they do not.I have also read that Christ and the father ARE the holy spirit. I am confused.??? Can anyone clarify?

The Word was made FLESH.

Joh 1:10-14 In the world He was, and the world came into being through Him, and the world knew Him not." To His own He came, and those who are His own accepted Him not." Yet whoever obtained Him, to them He gives the right to become children of God, to those who are believing in His name, who were begotten, not of bloods, neither of the will of the flesh, neither of the will of a man, but of God."

And the Word became flesh and tabernacles among us, and we gaze at His glory, a glory as of an only-begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth."

What kind of 'Glory' did He have when He was flesh and 'tabernacling' among us if His own people didn't accept Him?  The kind of 'Glory" that shoots out beams of light from radiant countenances like unto the Holy angels?   :D  If any saw THAT kind of Glory, surely there would have been few that would not have recieved/accepted Him.  No, the kind of 'Glory' that's full of grace and truth.  Could it be THAT'S how we're going to be like Him?

Php 2:5-8 For let this disposition be in you, which is in Christ Jesus also, Who, being inherently in the form of God, deems it not pillaging to be equal with God, nevertheless empties Himself, taking the form of a slave, coming to be in the likeness of humanity, and, being found in fashion as a human, He humbles Himself, becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

I'm curious how you would define 'Spirit'.

The Scripture excerpt below, answers this and many other questions, if we read and understand; get the picture. That is why it is a one answer for 2 apparently different questions, which really are similar.

2Co 5:16-17 (KJV)
16  Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

I would describe spirit ( holy) as:mind. attitude, virtue. Set aside for good works.
