Title: Moses luminous face
Post by: orion77 on September 10, 2006, 01:46:01 AM
These are some interesting words concerning when Moses was talking to God in receiving the Law.  Notice how he had to put a veil over his face when communicating to the people, after talking to God.

(Exo 34:29)  And it happened as Moses was going down from Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony being in Moses' hand as he went down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face had become luminous through His speaking with him.

(Exo 34:30)  And Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses. And, behold! The skin of his face had become luminous. And they were afraid to draw near to him.

(Exo 34:31)  And Moses called to them. And Aaron and all the leaders among the congregation turned back to him. And Moses spoke to them.

(Exo 34:32)  And afterwards all the sons of Israel drew near. And he commanded them all that which Jehovah had spoken with him in Mount Sinai.

(Exo 34:33)  And Moses finished speaking with them, and he put a veil on his face.

(Exo 34:34)  And as Moses came in before Jehovah to speak with Him, he took off the veil until he went out. And he would go out and speak to the sons of Israel that which he was commanded.

(Exo 34:35)  And the sons of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face had become luminous. And Moses would put back the veil on his face until he went in to speak with Him.

Only Moses saw the glory of God, now the veil is rent in twain, open to all, seeing how the Law of Moses was fulfilled by Christ.  Now, that glory, the law of love is available to all.

(Joh 17:22)  And I have given them the glory which You have given Me, that they may be one, as We are One:

(2Co 3:7)  But if the ministry of death having been engraved in letters in stone was with glory, so as that the sons of Israel could not gaze into "the face of Moses" because of the glory of his face, which was to cease, Ex. 34:34

(2Co 3:8)  how much rather the ministry of the Spirit will be in glory!

(2Co 3:9)  For if the ministry of condemnation was glory, much rather the ministry of righteousness abounds in glory.

(2Co 3:10)  For even that which has been made glorious has not been made glorious in this respect, because of the surpassing glory.

(2Co 3:11)  For if the thing done away was through glory, much rather the thing remaining is in glory.

(2Co 3:12)  Then having such hope, we use much boldness.

(2Co 3:13)  And not as "Moses, who put a veil over his face," for the sons of Israel not to gaze at the end of the thing being done away. Ex. 34:35

(2Co 3:14)  But their thoughts were hardened, for until the present time the same veil remains on the reading of the Old Covenant, not being unveiled, that it is being done away in Christ.

(2Co 3:15)  But until today, when Moses is being read, a veil lies on their heart.

(2Co 3:16)  But whenever it turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Ex. 34:34

(2Co 3:17)  And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

(2Co 3:18)  But we all with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory, as from the Lord Spirit.

Interesting, freedom in the Spirit, being unveiled by the truth in Christ.

God bless,

Gary

Hi Gary,

This is a really good study.
To so many the scripture is a veil,
presenting to their eye something very different from that which is revealed by the Spirit.
To be given the eyes to see and ears to hear,
is when the veil is removed.
To be one of the very few to have been given sight is a indescribable joy.

Mat 22:14  And Jesus concluded, "Many are invited, but few are chosen."

mercy, peace, and love

Gary,

I agree with Kat, an interesting topic. Moses being illuminated by His Word, giving a light (enlightenment) to the people, veiled for a time to be revealed as they come out of Egypt and Babylon, one by one.

Psa 4:6  There be many that say, Who will show us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

Psa 18:28  For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

Psa 89:15  Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.

Psa 119:130  The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Eph 1:17  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

Eph 1:18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

May He grant us the gifts of knowledge, wisdom and understanding,

Joe
