Good afternoon brothers and sisters, I've been reading Rays teaching( and the bible for that matter) and I'm having trouble understanding what " the leaving of ones first love" actually means. I'm pretty sure it's right under my nose but I can't seem to grasp it. Can any of you assist me with this issue?

A passage from it:
My "First Love" was my first desire to repent and come out of this world and follow God's way, which I then deserted to a large extent and went back into the world, and then repented and returned to my First Love.
Seems to be something we all go through to some extent. I know I have and still do. Once you see the rubbish in the world and can't stand it any longer you will return. That's what I experience........seriously the world gives me a giant headache at times.
