Title: Who would you meet from the Bible second after Jesus?
Post by: rrammfcitktturjsp on January 23, 2007, 11:06:25 AM
To All,

David and I cracked open our bible last night and had a long discussion.  Late at night we tend to be very philosopical and deep.  I asked the question, if you could meet someone from the bible who would you meet first, well second after Jesus.  I looked to him and said, Jesus was a given.

He said that he would like to meet Abraham and Sarah.  He is impressed with the fact they had a child at 90 years old and their show of faith.

I said I would like to meet the theif on the cross who accepted Jesus and the truth.  I would love to hear what he had done and also what he was thinking.

So who would you alll like to meet second after Jesus.

I told my husband I would post this topic, and he said do it tomorow.  It was getting quite late.  So here I am.  Looking forward to seeing the respones.

  Sincerely,

  Anne C. McGuire

I think I would get along with Methuselah pretty well.  I kinda dig Old people, and the name "Methuselah" means wine bottle.

There are so many; but, for me it would be Job. The parallel between what he experienced, what Adam and Eve experienced, and what we are experiencing.
Who's idea was it to try Job? Job 1:8
Who's idea was it to place the tree of the knowledge of good AND evil in the middle of the garden? Isa. 45:7
Who's idea is it for us to experience the things we do? I Cor. 8:6, I Cor 11:12, II Cor. 5:18, Rom. 11:36 and (one of my favorites) Eph. 1:11

I'd probably choose David.

He had so many flaws, yet he was a man after God's own heart.  Also, he was supposedly very good-looking.  ;)

It would definitely be one of the apostles, I think maybe James the brother of Jesus.
Would love to hear some of the stories about Jesus, that are not in the scripture.

Joseph.

He was given power and authority and how did he use it?
When given talent to use it for good is the characteristic that most impresses me.

John9362

I thought about 'Satan'. It seem to me that everyone and us are not interesting to meet Satan because of the deciever and evil things. But, I realized that God who created Satan and there is no 'good' in him. God created him as nature of deciever. God has purpose for Satan. God has reason and wisdom. God created us both knowledge of good and evil after Adam and Eve ate the tree of knowledge of good and evil. See the difference?? When God's judgment on all mankind and even Satan, too. Satan will learn righteousness, truth, descipline, and repent.  Not now but in future. Interesting, will we see Satan after all repent? Just wondering what you think. :)

Good thinking John! ;D

Brett and John,

I would have to admit, Satan would be a very interesting character to meet.  I would tie him up for eternity having to ask him all sorts of questions.

Something deep inside has always wondered if God would forgive Satan if he repented, and I am glad that he will eventually.  Makes me feel good that all is right with the world.

Yep, I too thought about satan, but since Anne mentioned PEOPLE I though of Paul/Saul;( infact, DH and I were talking yesterday about going to visit all of PAULS MISSIONARY  JOURNEYS some day.)  He was SO LEARNED in all areas (he spoke so many languages, was in positions of authority and was a man with a mission and he especially understood the Hebrew manuscripts as well as living in the New ERA/ New Covenant.  He was so dedicated to Christ in the final analysis that he didn't even have time to marry.

Secondly would be Luke, since he was a Physician and he would go into great detail about all that he had experience while with Yeshua.

Thirdly, the Nephelim; theres' just something interesting about giants :o

Solomon in all of his wisdom

OK Anne, you got me going now I can't stop.... ;)

I would like nothing better than to return the favor, and have SATAN call for his army to help pull the toe of my dirty boot out of his...you know what.  Don't think for a minute I wouldn't like to take some " Red Man" chewing tabacco and .......  mabey some of that good ol Louisiana HOT sauce.

This thread has got me thinking. You know we are told there is going to be a great banquet. Have you ever been to a party and known no one? Or, have you been to a party and all your friends are there and it is simply great! All I know is that with us lot at this Forum, God will have to give us “eternity” to catch up and have the time we need to fellowship to our hearts delight with all the talking and laughing and joy that God has in store for those who love Him! ;D

It's gnna be the best party ever! I want to see all my family that has gone on before. As far as Bible people. after Jesus , would be Samson. I always feel so bad for him because he got used and mis-used by a woman that he loved. I would also  like to ask Noah just how they managed on that ark. did it smell bad or did God take care of that for them? I guess it will be known on "the flip side"! Jennie

This has been fun to think about but when Jesus gives everything back to God and God "becomes All in All" and heaven isn't a place, will there be a big hootenanny in the sky??  If we are IN GOD and God is Spirit then.....????? I can't really imagine us talking to everyone, eating & drinking.  Then I start thinking about those Space Balls and HOW BIG the universe is...well, the mind goes all fuzzy on me!!

Gena,

Yeah my mind goes fuzzy as well thinking about how big everything is.

In mathematics we have something called aleph null.  Aleph Null is the set that contains the set of infinity.  This blows my mind, I know that God is outside of infinity.  It is amazing how when things go bad that we think that we are so alone in the universe and it is so small.  I wish that we could remember that the universe is so vast and that God controls it all.

I can hardly wait until eternity, but then I do not have to wait.  I am going to write a deep topic that I have been waiting to share until the right time.  It has to do with time and space.  I am working on in for an undergraduate thesis in mathematics.  I will leave out the forumulas and just share the concepts.  I think that you will find it very interesting.

  Sincerely,

  Anne C. McGuire

Hi,

Is it true that the largest # is google??? You can always add a 1 to the highest known #.

Also, have you studied the Fibronacci Numbers??  Really shows God's order in the Universe.

Gena,

Here's an answer to your question about the google.

There is no such thing as a highest possible number. No matter what number you have, there is always a larger one. (For example, you could always add 1 to your number to get a larger number).
What you are intending to ask is "what is the largest number that anyone has ever decided to give a specific name to?" It is very important to understand that this is a completely different question from the one you asked, because it is a question about human culture not about mathematics.

The largest number that has a commonly-known specific name is a "googleplex", which is a 1 followed by a googol zeros, where a "googol" is  (a 1 followed by 100 zeros).

However, there would be nothing stopping you from giving a special name to a still larger number (such as a googleplex plus 1), and then that would become the largest named number once the term became commonly known.

In summary, then: the mathematical question "what is the highest possible number" has no answer, because there is no such thing. But the sociological question "what is the largest number that anyone has ever decided to give a specific name to, a name which has become commonly known" is, for now, a "googleplex" (until someone decides to coin a phrase for a still larger number and it catches on and becomes commonly known).

I hope that this helps.  I am so excited that I can talk about some mathematics for a change.  And yes the Fibonnaci series are exciting things to study.  I am still doing wierd things.

Do you remember the million dollar problems that came out in 2000.  I got one of them solved.  I just as of yet have to take the higher mathematics to learn the langauge that I need to write the mathematical proof.  I proved the problem using intuitive proof, it stinks that I have to wait a few more years before I can share the solution.  I showed it to my advisor at school and after walking him through the problem, I remember him saying, congratulations you have a million dollars on the board. It will be about 4-5 years depending how much math I can take.  I am teaching myself differential equations and that stuff.

I love mathematics, though the music department cannot understand why.  They have tried to get me to give this up, but I refuse to so, becuase it is recess for me everytime I open my math book.  Music vocation and passion, math is my hobby.

Those horses are a riot.  David-Lee screams at them and tries to drool on them when I play them for him.

  Sincerely,

  Anne C. McGuire
