Matt27:46. And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying"Eli, Eli,Lama Sabachthani? That is to say My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Psalm 22. The Doe of the Dawn. A Psalm of David
My God ,My God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me from the words of my groaning?
I have two questions if someone would like to help me please.
Is David a symbol for Jesus? And
Why did Jesus ask His Father if He has forsaken Him? Thank you. 🙏🏼 Pamela

David is a type of Jesus.
1Ch 17:17 And this is small in Your eyes, O Elohim, and You speak concerning the house of your servant afar off, and have seen me as a type of The Man who is on high, O Yahweh Elohim!"
I don't believe Jesus felt forsaken. All He did was for our benefit.
John 11:41-43
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
Jesus spoke all He did for us.
God bless,
Alex

This is an older thread on this topic, I found helpful as well.

Jesus spoke all languages right, Greek to the Romans, Hebrew to the Jews and mostly Aramaic
To His Apostles. The words Why have you forsaken me, lemana shabakthani or lama sabacthani.
I found this online that the root word shbak, in Aramaic also means reserve, keep, spare, forgive.
I remembered reading a magazine during Easter and this scripture of Matt 27:46 was quoted
My God, My God, for this I was kept. ... The article was about the death of Jesus and how we are all responsible . Just wondering why the different translation? Any of you ever heard of this?
The Lord Is My God 🙏🏼 Thanks for your help everyone......Pamela

Thanks Wanda, I just read on the thread that you sent me, a post from G Dreggs, answered my question. Awesomeness abounds.

You're welcome...I thought those were great scripures, and I see you had answered your own question. God is good!

Just noticed this. Eli, Elohim.... El...God
The angels. Gabri..El
Micha..El
Rapha..El
Uri..El
God within their names
Just an observation.

You piqued my curiosity -
Michael from the Hebrew - <Micha' els>, meaning <who is as God> ?
Gabriel from the Hebrew words <gebhar>: man, and <el>: God. It means therefore, <Man of God>, or <Srength of God>.
Raphael from the Hebrew <rapha'>: to heal, and <el:> God, means "God heal", or the "Devine healer."

I couldn't find Uriel from the same source, on a phone and couldn't paste any of this either. This is all I found...
Uri'el "El/God is my light" He shines the light of God's truth into the darkness of confusion?

I believe Uriel is in the book of Enoch which I think might be just sensationalism, I'm not sure.
The info you found is interesting. So many mysteries. From my favourite song, this verse.
We sing as one Lord
We are your children
Pour out your Spirit
Upon the broken
O Loving Father
Come and draw near us
We see your Glory
We know you hear us. Amen 🙏🏼 Thy will be done

Beautiful :)
Oh yes, the book of the fallen angels, and God's judgement on them for producing the Nephilim, aka giants of the world...a book that clearly disputes God's sovereignty.

Yes the book of Enoch is not inspired of God. As you say, 'sensationalism.'

Jesus is the center of all Scriptures. It is all about Him.
"My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me", is easy to understand with the Spirit of God.
Jesus was quoting the opening of Psalm 22. He knew what He was saying. After all, Jesus wrote the Scriptures.
He was very familiar with His own words. Like Ray said, God has a very high IQ.
Psalm 22 identifies the Messiah. The first part shows He is a man of suffering. It is a precise prophecy of what Jesus suffered.
The last part of Psalm 22 is a prophecy of the glorious times to come and the salvation of all.
And of course, it leads into Psalm 23, which was possibly Jesus' last thoughts before He died.
"The LORD is My Shepherd, I shall not want".

All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord:
And all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before Thee.
For the Kingdom is the Lords and He is the governor among the nations. Psalm 22
John I received a card yesterday with these scriptures written on them from an old friend, a mentor of mine, when I was young.
Isn't it wonderful How the Lord lets us know He's with us, all these little miracles, amazing.
Thankyou John, God Bless You 🙏🏼 Pamela
