Title: Difference between judgement and suffering?
Post by: bambam on May 31, 2007, 08:06:03 PM
I am trying to understand something.  I was thinking while driving in my car to the grocery store that judgement seems to be physically on most people in this world now.  Everybody is touched in some way or another by suffering, so what makes the judgement now different than the suffering we all go through as humans?  I thought maybe the suffering is what we all MUST experience to be made in the image of Christ, but the judgements are of a spiritual nature-and those judgements(spiritually speaking) are on the house of God now, and will be on the rest of humanity later.  AmI headed in the right direction with this?

Hi Beth :)

I tend to not look at the suffering the whole world is experiencing as a form of Judgment, but rather as an opportunity to learn. A great role model was of course our saviour.

Hbr 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

Also Suffering is tied in with the fruit of the Spirit. :)

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And you really might be surprised to learn the true meaning behind the word Longsuffering  :)

Longsuffering: makrothymia   mä-kro-thü-mē'-ä (Key) {G3115]

  1) patience, endurance, constancy, steadfastness, perseverance
  2) patience, forbearance, longsuffering, slowness in avenging wrongs

So, I think you are correct beyond any reason of a doubt when you say: "I thought maybe the suffering is what we all MUST experience to be made in the image of Christ"

As for the timeline, I cannot say with any assurance; however, I do believe we are presently in the accounting period. I say this because God is graciously bringing me closer and closer to him everyday and I think it would sound foolish to allow someone to learn a truth but punish them because they did not know sooner. :)

I believe that the time for reckoning will come soon enough. But then I have been wrong before.  :D

Much love to you in Christ,

Darren

Hi Beth

While everybody has troubles and such,
My thoughts are, the judgement going on now for us is to teach.
Most people don't understand what God is trying to teach us and therefore don't understand what this is all about.

In the world people think that this life is sooooooo important. Well it is but not in the way we expect.
Jesus didn't come to this life to enjoy but came here to suffer to make an example on how to act and learn. We're not here  to enjoy life as worldly people but are here to be molded to Gods likeness.
"He that loses his life gains it."
If we learn our lessons now we won't have to be in the Lake of Fire and because we love God now we are called and chosen. Why did God pick us? Don't know why only he does.

This is like spring training before the big season ahead. Real life begins when Jesus returns.
When things happen now I ask myself, 'What is God trying to teach me?'
This is the difference in us and others, its a puzzle and God has all the pieces.
Hope this helps I'm sure others will add.
Peace and wisdom.

I started a thread as well on the subject similar to this one. Check it out. It is titled: "It seems everyone goes through judgment in their lives ...."
