Thanks Ralph and Bob for your responses. I’m at peace with everything and just remember it’s all Gods intention for each of our lives. I’m always reminded of my own struggles and shortcomings so as not to judge anyone. You are welcome Doug. "I’m always reminded of my own struggles and shortcomings ", I can certainly relate to that. |

Thank you Doug for the reply and explanation.
I responded in generalities and you provided more of the story to help me understand. Thank you for the kindness. Bob from Indiana |

Hi Richard. I'm on my phone and unable to post a link, but the most coverage Ray gave the subject was in and at the Nashville conference in 2008. I think you will find it useful.

Thanks Ralph for the suggested verse… I did use however it fell on deaf ears. Unfortunately after years of being friends decided needed to part ways. It goes well beyond believing in signs, more came out in our discussions. You did the right thing Doug. Titus 3:10-11 10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. Romans 16:17-18 17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. |

Hi Bob… I very much respect your wisdom and advise. In most situations I would totally agree. I want to be careful as to the reason for my decision. It came down to something bad happened to a person that had tried to discuss some of his beliefs and how he saw himself in Gods plan. He felt this was Gods judgement on that person. He “warned” me to be careful in my responses to him. Anyway left it as no anger towards him but just could not continue with a friendship.

Friend Doug,
It is a sad thing to lose a long time friend. So is it necessary in order to honor God and the faith that He has bestowed upon us? I think not. If God wanted you to bring your friend into belief it would happen eventually or gradually. The solution to your dilemma may be to limit your discussions to sports or hobbies of common interest. Please consider the advice of apostle Paul in his letter to the Corinthians. Regards, Indiana Bob = = = “I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—not at all meaning the people of this world … In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral … What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. ” 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 = = = “Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” – Colossians 4:5-6 |
