Title: Catholic churches & casinos
Post by: John9362 on September 09, 2014, 10:13:27 PM
This may come as a surprise to those of you not living in Las Vegas, but there are more Catholic churches than casinos. Not surprisingly, some worshipers at Sunday services will give casino chips rather than cash when the basket is passed.
Since they get chips from many different casinos, the churches have devised a method to collect the offerings. They send all their collected chips to a nearby Franciscan monastery for sorting and then the chips are taken to the casinos of origin and cashed in.
This is done by the chip monks.

Hi Theo,
Living in Vegas, have you been across the new suspended or arched bridge at Bolder Dam?
I hear it provides a thrill a minute when it is windy and I wondered if most visitors are using it instead of the dam road that we used 20 years ago.

No, I have not Indianabob. I've been meaning to go to the dam with the family. One of these days...People say it's an engineering marvel. I shy away from heart-stopping activities, such as the rides at the top of the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Tower: Insanity, Big Shot, roller coaster and  X-scream. I have dined at the restaurant at the top of the tower though; its name is Top of the World I think.
