Title: Meditation, conspiracy theories and videogames
Post by: NinjaDay on January 03, 2008, 08:06:30 PM
Are these wrong? I like videos games and i see them as entertainment. I see alot of conspiracies with shadowy organizations in the world and CANNOT turn a blind eye to them. Finally Meditation (in my past experiences) relaxes me. I really feel it might be difficult to walk away from these things and ESPECIALLY the conspiracies because i feel it is my responsibility to watch the Gov't and secure our rights as they try to take them away.

Hi Ninja day

You sound like you re struggling with yourself. It is always hard to advise someone about their activities...

Personally I think videogames are a huge waste of my personal brain activity. They is a just form of vicarious living. Real life is exciting enough for me.  Have you ever heard of brain plasticity. If the videogames are attack type then they are reinforcing your thoughts of violence. They are effecting you whether you know it or not.

Those that develop these games know a lot more about how the brain works than you realize.  Talk about government control. Develop a innocent appearing device as a way of numbing people's mind and use it for indoctrination at the same time.....you call this entertainment?

It is obvious that you have not learned to rest in the Lord...nothing wrong with simple meditation unless you are using it as a means of self grandizinment.

1Pe 5:7  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you

It is hard to be childlike and allow the heavenly Father take care of everything for us.....

This is not turning a blind eye...it watching the world movie....knowing the ending but watching How God brings it to pass...the good the bad and the ugly.  He loves them all

Beloved,

I'm sorry, but if anybody is going to go out and commit violence in real life because he played some violent video game then that person is just very weak minded. Perhaps even retarded.

Peace,

Sorin

Hey Sorin,

Rom 8:20  For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,...

Sound like anyone we know?

Videogames are not directly effective.....they are more -de-sensitizers......the military is totally aware that video games and simulators work and work very well.

In analyzing combat situations when they looked at the bullets, shot and those that hit, they saw that simulators increased the hits....

videogames do not make you go out and do something ....they make you act a certain way when you are in the situation.

We have sinning natures ....these things just act like kindling  and fuel it more.

What you fill your mind with leaves chemical trails that increase synaptic connections...the more you do something and have emotional enjoyment the stronger these get....neural plasticity. Old dogs can always learn new tricks.   ;D

If people watch videos then they will they will have to deal with the effects.  Afterall  God takes different people on different walks.....like I said how does one advise a person on their activities.....Ninjaday asked and I gave him my opinion.  :D

Everyone understands that some of the younger people here at BT do not have the life experience that some of the older folks have ...most of us have done this and that in our pasts and see the waste of it all.....

I use to be a music freak....I have very little interest anymore....I could not even hum current tune or name a current artist...I really used to love reading and gaining any knowledge...I consider almost all things dung now....and I can really rleate to that passage of Paul .   ;D

I think video games/movies/music feeds the spirit in man.  Of course, you are going to feed yourself with things you desire from your heart.  Beloved, I like how you explained how the brain works!  Very interesting.  I think the "situation" that Beloved refers to starts in your mind with the lusts of the flesh and becomes a reality when you act in the flesh. For instance, a person who desires to hate other people will have continuous and various rehearsals in the mind before they act out in violence when they loose control.  On the other hand, a person who has compassion for others as Christ Jesus will commit acts of mercy and kindness according to the fruits of the Spirit.  Praying that God grant us a good measure of His Spirit for this purpose.........................

Gal 5:19-24
19   Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20   Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21   Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22   But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23   Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24   And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Rom 13:14
14   But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Rest in the Lord,

Barbara
