Title: Fearful does not mean timid
Post by: Craig on November 21, 2008, 07:08:38 PM
Fearful.....as in fear of being found out or exposed.

Dear Harold:  I have only once suggested that Rev. 21:8 is better translated, "timid."  I am certainly not "in fear of being found out or exposed."

The word "fearful" in the King James is translated from different Greek words.

For example in Heb. 10:27 "fearful" is translated from the Greek word: #5398, phoberos, which means:   frightful, that is, (objectively) formidable: - fearful, terrible.

However, in Rev. 21:8 "fearful" is translated from the Greek word #1169, "deilos,"and first and foremost it means: " timid, that is, (by implication) faithless..."

So there are the facts, but if it makes you feel better to distort and misrepresent the facts, so be it.

Sincerely,

Ray
