Before I ask, let me explain: I am the MOST computer illiterate person on the face of the earth and I promise that is not an exaggeration. Now, that being understood, what I would like to know how to do is: How do you post a portion or all of a post from someone else and include that as a reference on your own post, I dont know if thats called cut and past or what. Or if it is too detailed a question, is there a website with info. Any and all input from you good people would be MUCH appreciated.

Well first you click on that word "quote" that's on that person's top right corner of his little box. Then that will take you to a new screen (should be a little white box with that person's quote already intect) and if you want to quote the whole thing you just click underneath all text and begin typing. When you're done you hit submit.
If you want to quote a portion of a person's post you have to take your mouse, left click and then hold and drag it across the entire part you want to copy, then you right click, choose copy. and then when you're ready to
paste that info that you copied you just left click on your mouse and choose "paste".
You could also quote a person's entire post and then break it up by using
this for example text in between
Now it'll show as person's name wrote: text in between  but after you quote me you'll see what I did.
I hope this helps,
Sorin

If you got that then outside the box you scroll down a bit and hit "submit".

Sorin, After I hit quote and the screen comes up with that persons quote in text, Next, I RT clicked and the 1 inch by 1 inch screen comes up with the following Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete Select all. Where do I go from there. Much appreciation for your patince, I warned you.

Well if you copied a persons text (as I mentioned in my first post) you will then click on "paste". Then the copied text should appear across the screen that you clicked on before right clicking and choosing "paste". You'll know where it's going to 'paste' because you will see a little vertical line blinking
in that area where you last clicked ( within the white box).

After you hit the quote button you will see this at the end of the person's quote - .[/quote]. Just hit enter a couple of times and then type something and click submit. Learn the rest after. Keep it simple.

No, silly. My name is Sorin. I was just telling Gena (gmik is Gena) good luck tomorrow. She's trying to learn how to quote people too. Though I can see why you would think that. It's my own fault the way I posted that.

You're welcome. 8)
Now notice what I did here. I (left clicked, held and dragged it across your entire text) copied what you typed (by right clicking and chosing "copy"), then I went to "post reply" and then I clicked inside that white box, I typed then I right clicked, chose "paste" then I typed
. That's how I quoted only a portion of that last post of yours.
You'll get a better visual of it after you quote this ( look at my explaination closely).

Longhorn, if you're going to copy and paste, you have to put it inside the quote tags, or it won't come out right. Look at this post (http://forums.bible-truths.com/viewtopic.php?p=9819#9819) of mine, or read the BBCode guide (http://forums.bible-truths.com/faq.php?mode=bbcode). Also, if you want to be sure you did it right, click the preview button, and you can see how it will look.
THEN LONGHORN SAT AND CRIED
-
Longhorn, have patience, you will get it right! You don't need to type in "Isabell wrote" if you are using the quote tags; it does that for you.
I have quoted my own post to show what your post should look like after you've quoted. All I did was click on the quote button, and it automatically put that post in the quote tags. Then I just typed my comments underneath.
Thanks for all the info Isabell.

Funny thread (http://www.pinoyexchange.com/forums/images/smilies/hihi.gif)
Don't worry Longhorn, if anyone is the master of 'stoopid' puter questions, its me. Bless my sister, if it weren't for her being pretty computer savvy and very patient then i'd be doing a lot more ... (http://www.giveupalready.com/images/smilies/hatecomputer.gif)
Still, nothing compares to my dear mum who thought that if she unplugged her pc, her coursework might somehow 'drain out' of the plug :-# (http://www.giveupalready.com/images/smilies/imslow.gif)(http://www.giveupalready.com/images/smilies/rofl.gif)

 AHEM!!!! I found this to be fairly easy. Don't put me in the special ed. class!

Okay, I tried to do it, but I got the whole quopte instead of the part I copied and pasted. Now the computor won't let me erase my own post. I'll try again later.
-
Okay, I have tried this many times and it won't work. Longhorn, I know how you feel. Everytime I do what Sorin says, by copying with the right side and pasting on the left I don't know what to do after that. Where do I put my copied and pasted sayings? It just quoted everything on the quote page. Maybe Longhorn could help. Or Gena.
-
Hi Debra, if you want to quote just part of a post, you can either copy the part you want and paste it inside the quote tags (see this post (http://forums.bible-truths.com/viewtopic.php?p=9819#9819) of mine), or just click the quote button, and then delete everything but the part you want (but NOT the quote tags, or it won't look right!).
-
Hey Isabell, looks like I did it! I just couldn't get it to work when I did it the way Sorin said. I at least can now quote people. Thanks Isabell.

Shibboleth, You would be better off asking anyone of the Three Stooges for advise on this matter than asking me to help. :D If not for Sorin and Isabell having the patience of Job, I never would have done it.

I think I can do it now. And if I can't I can look at the post by Isabell and figure it out again. I tried doing it the way Sorin said, and it just copied the whole page. After I highlighted the message, it turned blue and then when I copied and pasted it, it turned white and copied the whole page. I am sure Sorin's directions were right and I just wasn't getting it.
Thanks Longhorn for asking. Everyone has a little different way of doing it and it can get confusing. I need things real simple.
