this is why I mostly only give to homeless or friends or those I see in need directly. The corperate needs are buisness or worse like TV Evangelist imo

Unreal!  And you wonder why people don't want to give to charity when there are so many scam artists out there!

I worked briefly for one such "charity" which raised money by selling tickets to some kind of dinner.  I didn't work in the boiler room, though I saw it and had a sense of what went on.  I worked delivering the tickets on a per-delivery basis.  I hung in there for about three days.  On the best day, I made 10.00 and spent about 8.00 on gas.  I didn't even bother to quit...just didn't show up any more after that.  Just the sales commissions and the measly bit I got for making the delivery were about 80% of the the money raised, not counting the cost of running the office.  Best I remember, it was the Sheriff's Deputies Association.  Barney Fife never saw a penny of that, I'm sure.

There are good charities, however.  A look along the left side of that page gives resources for sussing them out.
