I just applied for monetization on our YouTube channel.
This lets us run ads on YouTube but more important it encourages YouTube to suggest our videos.
If we are approved the ads should start running in about a month or less.
I pay YouTube $10.00 a month to hide ads on my personal account. But let me know if you find the ads hard to tolerate.
It will be a dance between a meaningful increase in the number of views and people who hate the ads. We'll have to wait a few months to see what wins.

Thank you Dennis. I appreciate all of your hard work and also to all of the moderators.
Thank you all very much for tending to the flock.
Love to all

This should be interesting 😁

Hi,
Ads are irritating. Whilst trying to watch a certain video and this ad pops up at the beginning.
It will also depend on what(product) they are advertising.Be on the look out for that. Wouldn't want any products we don't believe in to be advertised on your YouTube channel.
E.g. They may run an ad of TD Jake's or Joel Oesteen or some other stuff that may probably be contrary to our beliefs.
Let's see how it goes though.

Hi bible-truths.com,
Thank you for applying to the YouTube Partner Program. To evaluate your application, our team carefully reviewed your channel bible-truths.com. Unfortunately we found that your application does not meet our YouTube Partner Program policies so we cannot approve your channel for monetization at this time.
We have policies in place that we believe support a healthy environment for advertisers, creators, and users, which means sometimes making difficult decisions like this one. Please go to your monetization page to read more about the specific policy our specialists flagged for your channel.
If you adjust the content on your channel, please consider reapplying. You can reapply to the YouTube Partner Program in 30 days.

mmm
A healthy environment for advertisers? Maybe any discussions about God makes them sick.☺
Interesting to note, when they decide to demonetize a channel for breach of guidelines, "unhealthy" content, they still continue to run ads.
-
Wait till the communists at YouTube see the "healthy environment" of The Lake of Fire!
(They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth) [Matthew 13:42, 50].
-
I usually skip ads, but will you get paid if I skip?
-
If it all shut down tomorrow, we are still connected 😁😁😁😀😃😁😂

What was the "specific policy" they flagged?

Don't know - But from what I've seen others say on YouTube, it's a waste of time asking them.

Hi Dennis. The fact that youtube denied your application is a good thing.
The Word of God with ads is a recipe for disaster. It will distract the viewer and the ads that play on your channel will more than likely be inappropriate and will lead people away. As a test, I just went to a Christian channel that has their videos optimized. At the beginning of the first video I viewed, there was an advertisement for an online class with the following description:
“How to Tune Into Your Spiritual Energy to Empower Your “Real World” and Live in Duality…Learn FOUR Powerful Yet Simple Energy Techniques To Tap Into Your Spiritual Body So You Can Easily Fine Tune Your Physical World For More Health, Wealth, Love, Inner Peace and Clarity.”
As you can see, this is a path you don't want to go down Brother.
If you are looking to reach more people, you need to optimize your videos better for search. Things like adding a good description, tags, title, transcripts, can make a big difference. There are inexpensive apps available that can help with optimization.
With love,
Ralph

It has nothing to do with getting revenue from YouTube Ralph. We don't get enough views to get any kind of a return. But it would have helped with more BT ads.
Thanks for the hint but I've been optimizing web sites for search engines since the '90s, so that's not the problem. As I said, this would have allowed us to run ads on YouTube.
Google: When you enable your channel for monetization, you can turn on ads for your videos. Ads are served through the AdSense auction, Google Ad Manager, and other YouTube-sold sources. Once you turn on monetization, it may take some time for ads to appear. ... Ads will not always appear on videos enabled for monetization.

Hi Dennis,
I know you weren't doing this to make money bro. That wasn't my point. I was referring to the content of the ads that will play on your channel and gave an example. I have also been doing this for many years which is why I reached out. I wasn't aware you had experience in this area, so please forgive me if I what I said insulted you in any way. I spend a great deal of time on youtube and have seen some rather distasteful ads appear on other channels. I was justing thinking about those folks coming to your channel who are new to the word of God and how those ads would affect them. Much love Brother. I wish you well with the Channel.
-
I edited my post because people cannot always tell the tone of voice in a post and I thought it may have come across harsh. But I was not insulted Ralph. I hope you understand.
It is good to know there is someone around with experience. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I updated the BT site a while back and made everything HTML 5 compliant and made the pages secure https.
The tags, titles, etc. help but there is a lot of competition and you have to stay on top of it continuously. And I learned Google will also put you close to the front of the line when you also spend money on their ads.
I'm now 76 and it's not as easy as it once was :)
Thanks
-
Good morning Dennis,
76 is a good number.
One doesn't often think about a writer's maturity when reading responses, but it does come to our attention from time to time. :)
As much as we appreciate the work that Ray Smith did to aid us in our journey of faith it is also a blessing to have a sponsor such as you are and have been all of these many years. To continue in faith, dealing with all the challenges of the web site and of this forum is a work of love that we sincerely appreciate.

FYI, my son Brian suggested we may get kicked off YouTube someday and I should back up all the YouTube videos to our BT server. I just finished that today.
-
Thank you Dennis . I to would like to offer much appreciation for all of your hard work.
God Bless You

I appealed and YouTube agreed to let me monetize the videos so I monetized a few of the poorer performing videos on YouTube to keep them happy.
But now I am able to add bells and whistles to the videos and advertise on YouTube as well as run our Google Ads. We'll see how it works out?
-
That's great news. I like the revisions you've made on some of the videos too. I think it could help increase views.
-
I've been doing some experiments with YouTube advertising to find the best YouTube demographics as opposed to the Google Ads we've always used.
I briefly advertised the "Hell does not Exists" video and I'm impressed with the number of people that comment negatively, as we would expect. https://youtu.be/zQQsl5NACzs (https://youtu.be/zQQsl5NACzs)
Right now the only ad that's running is our revised Tithing video which is doing well overall but has mostly negative comments as expected: https://youtu.be/thGGwSDYxbQ
But we've added 130+ new YouTube subscribers thanks to the ads.
-
Two thumbs up, Dennis :)
One of the last times I commented on a YouTube video was from a Babylonian preaching about "hell, fire, and brimstone". I left comments saying there was no hell, and that this was the most blasphemous, sinful teaching from wicked, sinful man. I received about 60 or more replies (though I did get 2 thumbs up)! Ha.

If people have time I would like to see all of us 'like' and reply or comment on our various YouTube videos.
YouTube does not care if it's a thumbs-up or down. Either will increase our ranking on YouTube and drive more traffic to the site.

That's positive news. I've been reading the comments, which were far nastier than I was anticipating. I suppose that's the result of limiting myself to this forum, where things are monitored. Although I never comment anywhere but here, I'll go outside of my comfort zone and make an effort to comment on the YT videos.

It all helps. We never know how our actions will affect someone. One comment that makes sense could be a turning point. But we know God is directing everything which includes our actions.

Here are some numbers I thought you might find interesting.
Percentage of Views on different devices:
Mobile phone 62.4%
Tablet 36.6%
TV 0.3%
Computer 0.5%
Most people watch our YouTube videos on their smartphone while the percentage of people like myself who watch on a computer or TV is tiny.
I'm happy with YouTube so far. It's more efficient and most likely we'll not go back to advertising on Google's search engine.
The new 'tithing' YouTube video has 1,832,600 impressions (total number of people that have been exposed to the ad), and out of that 24,383 people clicked on the ad. This works out to 1.33% which is somewhat high. The average is usually closer to 1%.
So far there are 184 comments. Most of which are negative. But that's normal and a small percentage of the total clicks, so we don't really have any idea of how many people have been helped.
The YouTube 'tithing' campaign is on hold until I find out the amount of money we've spent so far gets current. So don't look for the number of clicks to increase much for awhile.

FYI: I just created a Patreon account for bible truths to supplement our PayPal account: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=28467987 (https://www.patreon.com/user?u=28467987)
YouTube rolled out an entirely new system for advertising about 6 months ago and I've been learning my way around it.
The new Tithing video has about 24,000 clicks so far thanks to our YouTube ads: https://youtu.be/thGGwSDYxbQ (https://youtu.be/thGGwSDYxbQ). That's a lot of potential for people not to be giving to these TV preachers, but instead taking better care of their families.
The new Noah's flood video had over 30,000 clicks in three days thanks to our YouTube ads: https://youtu.be/Fie4lGQ_9kU (https://youtu.be/Fie4lGQ_9kU)
And we've added almost 400 new YouTube subscribers in a little more than a week!
I put a link to Patreon in half-dozen YouTube video descriptions so far. We'll see what happens.
