Dear Reader:
All of the 23 references to "firstfruits" under the Old Covenant concern the first harvest of the year, food stuff, produce, wine, oil, etc., being dedicated to the tabernacle service.
All of the 7 references to "firstfruits" in the New Testament have reference to the "firstfruits" of spiritual humanity--the converted, called out, chosen few. There are zero references to anyone giving anyone else his first month's salary of the year, as Paula White and her kind so fraudulantly requent of their viewers for the first month or two of the new year.
Jesus Christ is the first of the firstfruits. He gave Himself to all humanity. We are a "kind of firstfruits" (James 1:18), and we too are to "...present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is our reasonale service" (Rom. 12:1 paraphrased).
And that's how it works.
