Thanks Bob for the book reference, that helps in knowing what he is basing his information on. I’ve talked to him for years and tried to reason with him to no avail. We may have to drop this and talk on things that there is more agreement.

Thank you Porter that was very helpful. I may just ask him to read the responses. Your last paragraph is very profound and something I had concluded some time ago. However you expresses it in a way I could never have written. These comments have been helpful to me and much appreciated.

That's a good one Bob. It's right in line with the fact Jesus only taught in parables.

Doug, you said your friend read Ray's papers, has your friend read where Ray showed from the Scriptures that Jesus only taught in parables? Perhaps show your friend where Jesus said this along with some examples. It might help "cast out" this belief. Assuming of course its a belief that needs casting out.

Here's the verse along with the rest of the passage. Without a doubt, have him study and read that entire chapter because it's all one.

Luk 21:25  "Then there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and there will be anguish on the earth among nations bewildered by the roaring sea and waves.
Luk 21:26  People will faint from fear and expectation of the things that are coming on the world, because the celestial powers will be shaken.
Luk 21:27  Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Luk 21:28  But when these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near!"

There is a type in the Old Testament of this very thing concerning the sun, moon, stars, the earth and the roaring sea and waves. Ray explained it here.

After Joseph tells his brothers his dream we read this:

And his brethren said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us? And THEY HATED HIM YET THE MORE for his dreams, and for his words (Ver. 8).

And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold the sun and the moon and the eleven stars [his eleven brothers] made obeisance to me [bowed down to me] ... And his brothers ENVIED HIM... (Vers. 9 & 11).

God Almighty caused Joseph's brothers to hate and desire to kill their brother because of a dream that would have caused any carnal-minded person to hate their brother under the same circumstances.

Joseph was the youngest of the brothers, so naturally all the other brothers would think themselves superior to him. Jacob loved Joseph more than the others, so naturally they would have jealousy toward him. Then Joseph tells his brothers of a dream he had where his sheaf in the field was standing upright and the sheaves of his brothers all bowed down to him. What audacity they thought of their little brother presenting such a haughty representation of himself. And then to add insult to injury he tells them of another dream he had where the sun [his father] and the moon [his mother] and eleven stars [his eleven brothers] all bowed down to him.

==============================

It's interesting to note that you're seeing your friend experiencing the very thing Luke 21:25 is talking about. It's like the seed that fell among the thorns.

Luk 8:14  And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

I mention this as someone who has experienced this first hand. I too used to believe that what was happening in the physical world was comparable to what Jesus said in His parables. One thing I'm absolutely sure of now, is the fact I believe in a lot less things. However, the few things I do believe in have been improved.

Hey Doug, your friends reference to Trump as Jehu probably comes from  one of Jonathan Cahn's  books. I think maybe the Harbinger or the Oracle, not sure which.

Thanks Bob that is a good verse to share. Just notice autocorrect changed where it should be he compares trump and Jehu in 2 Kings 10:19.

I'm not sure if this will help but. Every time I hear someone start to say," I think God" I am reminded of one of my favorite verses.
New Living Translation
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine."
King James Bible
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Especially after they are proven wrong.
 Isaiah 55:8

I have a friend that believes he sees signs from God then makes predictions, all of which over the years have been wrong. I have pointed that out however he keeps making predictions based on signs from God. He uses Luke 21:25 as justification. I’ve told him believe we can only know something in our lives by looking backwards and many times giving things a long period to play out before we could say God moved things in a certain direction. Anyway he is a nice fellow and does read Rays teachings. Any suggestions as how might respond in a way that would be helpful? He also sees Trump as Jesus in the Bible. That gets even more confusing.

Thanks for any help.

Good Day Richard and welcome,

I too have found much help with A.E. Knoch, especially with the letters of Paul.
Formerly with the Armstrong fellowship until 1999, then followed Ray after he left that group.
Love to explore any area of interest you may have.

Warm regards from Plymouth, Indiana USA
