Title: How is Everyone Doing ?
Post by: octoberose on March 23, 2020, 04:34:44 AM
I just wanted to check in and see how the BT family is during our time of  distancing ourselves from others . I’m praying that God is giving you Peace .  I have to admit at times peace wavers  for me , but I’m blessed in so many ways .  My husband worked from home even before this happened.  We have enough food , our home is warm , and I read to my grandchildren  most days over Alexa . But we can’t go see them and my oldest daughters family lives outside of Seattle .
This feels like a pestilence from Revelations -  weather it is or not , it is in the hands of God .
Praying you all are safe and well. ❣️

For me is quite tough going as had car accident in December and my wife died. I am still injured and waiting for another operation which is getting delayed now because of the virus. The court case against the other driver is also delayed now. Any negative news makes it hard on my mental condition. I feel like everything got much harder after the accident. I have no peace and full of uncertainty about the future. Is difficult also when I need people in my life but now get told I need to stay away. Just hoping everything gets better soon.

We're in Michigan and we're  starting a stay at home order. My husband works at a grocery store so he can still work, I'm very thankful for that.  I pray that staying home for many states will help with stopping this virus. Or slow it down.

I had 3operations to get bloodflow thru my artery in my leg. I found out on #2 I don't do well on morphine and had 2 stents put in. After the operation my artery collapsed within 48hrs. Surgeon blamed me for not taking Plavix. My wife and I convinced I was taking meds on time. He said if I was indeed taking plavix on time, I was in the 10% "lucky ones" that Plavix don't work  on. So #3 was scheduled (baloon) to re-open artery and I thnk it was successful, follow up next month. Now I'm one of the at risk citizens(7o yrs old, almost 50 yrs as a type 1 diabetic) so I don't go anywhere crowded. Good thing I love being around my wife of 46 yrs. Prayers for all in tougher straits than I.

Having you all, especially Rhys, in our thoughts and prayers.
We are a special family of believers and support one another as best we can.
Thanks for all the support. Bob

Me and my house are doing ok so far, thank the LORD. Praying for one another is the best remedy always especially during these trying times. Our 46 year old daughter insisted that we do the online grocery ordering and side door pickup thing so my wife did that and it went pretty well. Even shopping on line doesn't mean you get everything you ordered, such as paper towels and toilet tissue.

In all things give thanks unto GOD the Father and our LORD and savior Jesus Christ.

In these recent uncertain and troubling times. I am reminded of what relying on God in all things really means. It can transform how you perceive and react to situations.  I've had plenty of practice with social distancing over the past few years, while caring for my mama who will soon be 92.  This situation has not altered my life in a negative way, as it has many others.

I feel blessed to have this time with my beautiful mama, and the ability to shop online for many things, as well as the grocery pick up service which is a great option.

I'm mostly feeling grateful for God's mercy and grace in my life, and the many blessings I've been given, especially my BT family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Things currently are not as locked down as what I've seen on the news in more populated areas.  I have little concern for myself, but working at home is not an option and people are coming and going here at work all day so I don't want to bring anything home (including more worry) to my mother. Certain changes at work are stressful but they would be in the absence of Covid-19 too.  Anyway, that's mostly why I've been absent more than usual.

All this will pass, and the Lord is preparing a place for every last stinking one of us   Here or there, whether we live or die,, we're with Him.  Let's love one another while we're here.

It can be overwhelming and my heart goes out to those who are in dire difficulties because of job losses, social isolation and the economy.  Remembering those in prayer who are on the front lines and those that have to work and put themselves at risk.

Reading and rereading Psalm 91 brings me a lot of comfort.

God is in control and this virus, to me, is a huge test of faith in that we are to rely on Him and trust Him in ALL  cirumstances.  I'm sure these circumstances are really challenging a lot of people in their faith.

Praying for all saints that we will soon see some light and to hold fast and for His guidance; that our faith not be just lip service.

Rhys, I don't mean to sound glib but time does heal; I lost my husband 2 years ago today and have been in a semi isolation during that time as no close family or friends to visit me on a regular basis; He did give me one great friend who kept in contact with me, long distance, once a week.  Thank God for the faith and friend He gave me as it kept me out of depression even tho it made me do a lot of self reflection of my life/character etc; it also made me speak to Him more often and read His word be it the bible, Ray's material etc.  Rhys that/His strength is in you!!

May God's blessings be on you all.

Diane

My daughter got laid off yesterday and has only five days to get out of her home so her
landlord can move in .She has a husband who doesn’t work and two seven year old twins.
The government package won’t be available for ten days apparently and she is experiencing
much anxiety as many are. Joblessness abounds. People are panicking, and this virus is spreading
like wildfire. Many are not adhering to the stay at home rules so they have begun arresting people.
I watched in horror as a leading Premier of a big province stated regarding the hoarding of food.
And I quote “ there is a special place in hell for those who do such things” .
After reading again this morning the Origins of eternal punishment, I have a better understanding of Christian
doctrine in the bigger scheme of things . It’s evil and disgusting blasphemy.

From Rays teaching

God has sternly warned in Deut.12:30-31

We at BT are blessed to know that

There is always salvation on the other side of judgement.
God is good and God is wise, and God is powerful and God is Love,
and God is enlarging His family with billions of sons and daughters
who will truly be for the first time in history, purged and purified and
finally molded into the desire of Gods heart from the beginning of time
when He declared “ let us be making humanity ,,,,, in our image.

I was so glad to hear from so many! Don't you just wish in a time like this we could all be together? We would put our arms around Rhys and Tim, and have big dinners and study together and laugh  (while social distancing of course ).  And one day we'll do just that ( without the distancing ).
This all feels to me like a pestilence we've been told to look out for, and I feel like we will be seeing more of this.
I'm trying to make the most of this time.   It's not what I would have wanted, but it does present an opportunity for quiet, for study, for doing the things we need to do at home, for health, for kindness and for thinking of others before ourselves.  I feel unsettled but not unrooted .
May God continue to be with you all, because the days are getting shorter.  Be well.

All this will pass, and the Lord is preparing a place for every last stinking one of us   Here or there, whether we live or die,, we're with Him.  Let's love one another while we're here.
That's what I'm talking about Dave. My wife has been a bit worried lately because the whole world is telling us to be scared, so I told her about how Jesus comforted those that were crying because their child had died, then Jesus telling them the child was only asleep and not dead, and then commanding her to come alive again. I think telling my wife about that helped. Jesus will make us whole again, not just physically, but especially spiritually.

Covid-19 may be real, but I think it's getting blown way out of proportion. More people die from the common flu (among other illnesses) than they do from this new over hyped virus. The person that modeled the virus and then predicted that the virus would kill 500k people in the UK is now changing his tune to say the new estimate is less than 20k people dead in the UK from covid-19. However, main stream media is still using the old data from the previous model, wonder why.

Don't know how reliable dailywire.com is, but for what it's worth, check this out. https://www.dailywire.com/news/epidemiologist-behind-highly-cited-coronavirus-model-admits-he-was-wrong-drastically-revises-model (https://www.dailywire.com/news/epidemiologist-behind-highly-cited-coronavirus-model-admits-he-was-wrong-drastically-revises-model)

Sadly, the person behind the covid-19 model is already crediting the quarantine efforts to his new less drastic model. This quarantine will set a new precedent for future biological emergencies.

Just like with the flu, our elderly and those that are immunocompromised are probably more susceptible to this. So as always keep them safe.

BTW, I'm doing ok octoberose, thanks for asking. Lets all remember each other in prayer. God be with us all.

News from New Zealand.   We are on day 4 of lockdown.  This week I've stepped into new roles of being a teacher, counselor, cleaner, DIY tradesmen, gardener, cook, wife, mother, grandmother etc.  The list goes on! Praise God that I can be this for everyone in our immediate bubble.

Our business is classed as essential services, doing the rural mail run in our area.  However, both my husband and I were told to stay at home because he is over 70 and I have asthma.

I am grateful that my two daughters can still work for our business.

My heart goes out to everyone, especially those effected in poor countries who dont have the modern comforts we have.

Rhys, I pray for you and know that God will bring you through this tough trial you are experiencing.  Strength to you my brother in the Lord.

I am grateful for this site and sharing with you all the hope we have in Christ Jesus.  We are the lucky ones that know that God is in control and that we have the peace that surpasses understanding.   Imagine not having that....now that is more terrifying than the Covid-19 virus!

Love in Christ

I had a US Mail delivery today that required I sign for it. I saw the mail truck drive up and started to walk out to meet the mail lady but she stopped me and told me she was signing for me because they are not allowed to have contact with anyone. I put on my gloves and retrieved the letter from my mailbox then sprayed it with disinfectant.

Most likely did not need the gloves or disinfectant but at my age and health problems I have to be extra careful. But I expect this to be mostly over when it gets hot and humid here in the Deep South (about another month).

Hi Dennis,
Question.
Since as you say it gets hot and humid in your area why does that reduce risk?
These virus seem to thrive in the human body which is 98 degrees and quite humid in the lungs.
Any ideas? I would love to know more.

Unfortunately, I've noticed a disturbing trend. Discarded gloves are popping up all over the place, especially in parking lots outside of stores and on the city streets. My car was in the shop which is a mile and a half from my house. When I walked there to retrieve it, I decided to count gloves. In that mile and a half, I counted 15 gloves and one mask. Who are these people and what are they thinking? While I realize the need for these procedures, this is another case where I believe the business of certain entities keeping people in a constant panic does not help. It creates thoughtless disease spreading idiots.

Interesting that in the Old Testament there are many references to hand washing, quarantine, and many hygienic examples. There is really nothing new under the sun. The flu typically starts to fad away around early to middle April so hopefully this will follow same coarse. It does seem odd that they have tested different treatments that show great results but doctors seem reluctant to use even when it is existing drug that is tolerated well.

I did the math according to this morning's official statics for the U.S. As of this morning (3/29), the death rate in the U.S. is 1.1%. We may be leading the world in the number of infected cases reported, but (unlike some sources would have us believe) NOT in the number per capita and NOT in the percentage of deaths. The actual numbers will not be known until this thing ends. That's the way it always is, but they appear to be trending down from the original projections. I'm not trying to lessen the seriousness of the epidemic, believe me. I'm 69.... my wife is 68 and still working at the local hospital. But a little hope can't hurt. And we're not getting that from very many sources. Pray for a cure, an early summer and those everywhere in the world who are already in need.

In 2003, SARS didn't die of natural causes, it was killed by extensive public health measures (quarantining, social distancing, everyone was wearing a mask when in public).
Can't depend on weather alone.

I really like what this professor said at the end of the video.

No politics here, but why if everyone was wearing masks in 2003, was there no shortage to complain about in that SARS epidemic?
Were hospitals better prepared? Were more masks available?
What was different?

Hi Bob,

Quite frankly, everyone was not wearing a mask in 2003. Not here in the U.S. In fact, I don't remember anyone at all wearing a mask at that time.
However, (this is incomplete information) I do know that during the swine flu epidemic a little over a decade ago, tens of millions of masks were released from the government's stockpile. I could be wrong, but I think they went to medical facilities, not the public. And for whatever reason, they were never replenished.
I don't remember people walking around with masks then, either.
With very little exception, and only on rare occasions with a single individual, have I ever seen a mask in public before this event.

Hi Bob, in 2003, the affected countries were mostly in Asia. People in those countries did wear masks. The professor in the video also mentioned it.

There was no shortage, I think the reasons are:
The spread of SARS was not as fast and easily as covid-19.
There were not too many international travelers at that time, so not too many imported cases for countries outside Asia.
Most importantly, there were no face mask hoarders.

No politics here too, but the face masks were already sold out in almost every store around the world in early Jan. You probably can guess who bought up all the masks and caused the shortage.

But a little hope can't hurt.

Mike

Hope is a wonderful thing. The hope we have is not mere wishful thinking (I hope I win the lottery!) but a confidence and expectation that our God will fulfill His promises.

Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, Just as we hope in You. Psalm 33:22

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. Psalm 43:5

You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your word.  Psalm 119:114

Regarding the present situation, permit me to offer this hope. We pray for deliverance from a virus, but thank God we shall be saved from something worse, the pride of life:

A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor. Prov. 29:23

Woe to the crown of pride (Latin: coronae superbiae), to the drunkards of Ephraim, Whose glorious beauty is a fading flower. Isa. 28:1

The crown of pride (corona superbiae), the drunkards of Ephraim, Will be trampled underfoot. Isa. 28:3

In that day the Lord of hosts will be For a crown of glory (corona gloriae) and a diadem of beauty To the remnant of His people. Isa. 28:5

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life (Latin: coronam vitæ) which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to take the prize. Everyone who competes in the games trains with strict discipline. They do it for a crown (coronam) that is perishable, but we do it for a crown that is imperishable. 1 Cor. 9:25-26

Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness (corona justitiæ), which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Tim. 4:8

Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown (coronam). Rev. 3:11

In new Zealand the numbers are getting less with 2 deaths. The lockdown is suppose to last another 12 days but may get extended. For me the isolation is not so good and getting me more depressed and my faith in God gets less. He knows the length of our days but why take my wife now. I am still quite angry with him and the situation I now find myself in. My surgery also delayed because of the virus but there is no virus in my town but hospital still won’t do anything l I think it’s wrong to let people wait for people that might get sick. If there was virus here then ok but no virus. I get physically better but will be worse for a while after surgery so prefer it done soon.

Perhaps contact someone who knows and find out if the hospitals are mostly inactive, and if they are somewhat inactive start a movement? Start with the news media that carried your story. Could help thousands of people like yourself.

You can almost count on the lock-down being extended.

I can understand your injustice in my mind but not in my heart. I know things will be wonderful in the next life and this is necessary, but we are not in the next life now are we?

Hi Rhys,
Sorry to hear your difficult circumstances. It makes no sense at all to close these hospitals and no sense to prolong the lockdown in New Zealand. You can be assured God is in charge, knows your needs and will see you through. Praying for you.

Rhys
I encourage you to keep us posted on how things are going and I thank you for doing that as you have. For those of us who have not gone through something so traumatic we can only weep with you but not fully grasp that pain. When I'm on my delivery trips some of which are 200-300 miles I have a lot of time to be alone and I sometimes wonder how I would respond to such  tragedy especially if something happened to my 7 year old granddaughter, I shutter to wonder if I would lose my faith and head to the nearest pub and drink myself to death, but the Lord reminds me its not my faith to lose. Ray taught that both the grace and the faith were gifts and that not of ourselves. Our prayers for you as one body in Christ are for you to experience the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. Let this be yours now in Jesus Name. I think it sounds like a great idea what Dennis mentioned about contacting your local news and maybe start a movement that could be a blessing to you and many others
In Christ

No lockdowns will work.Only repentance!
