Title: Introduction
Post by: jingle52 on January 02, 2010, 05:55:50 PM
Hello Everybody,
I too, would like to introduce myself. I'm a South African living in Italy am saddened at not having the possibility of meeting this wonderful man Ray Smith who has given my life a deeper meaning in Christ Jesus. I have always felt that there was something missing which I needed to know and have been searching relentlessly since I discovered I had a brain aneurysm six years ago... God in His Mercy gave me a second chance and led me to Ray's wonderful Bible Truths some months ago. I have never stopped reading and learning and appreciating Rays explanations of the Scriptures in a very simplistic and easy way that does not confound me as in the past when I read but never clearly caught the meaning of His Word. I offer my prayer together with all you wonderful people in supplication to The Almighty to heal his servant for the benifit of all who have been stumbling in search of enlightment. May God through the Glory of Christ Jesus give him and his wife the strenght to resist the pain and May our Lord's Face shine upon him. God Bless you all on this interesting and uplifting forum my brothers and sisters in Christ!

It's very nice to meet you.  Welcome to the forum as a poster.  I look forward to much further fellowship with you.

There's more than a couple of members living the expat experience.  I'd love to go to Italy some day.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!! I really needed a place which I can burrow into and feel part of... I have never felt the need to attend mass on a regular basis here in this catholic of countries owing to the void I felt every time I did attempt attending one. I also never went back to my childhood church (Methodist) as I left S.A. when I was nineteen, went to live in Zambia and Malawi, returned briefly to S.A for three years and then came to Italy. I've been living here now for almost thirty years and although it is a country of culture, fashion and wonderful history, my heart is always in sunny S.A.
Kat, thank you for the extra info regarding Ray's videos etc. will look at them all time permitting! There are many questions I would like to ask as I am in such a  state of confusion and at the same time, soooo happy to be able to have this opportunity to felloship with you all!
A big Hello to Marlene, Stacey, Cherokee, Linny, Roy, Driggs and Dawn!!!

Hello Jingle,

Welcome,
I'm from Northern Indiana where it is sunny in July. (smile)
I noticed that you reside in Italy and wanted to say that my daughter Karen, who married a fellow from Sicily, had the opportunity to visit the area last year and returned with many photos of the places they traveled through. She had a great time and would like to return but probably will not due to finances.
Anyway, it is a beautiful place to visit, but as you say home is where our hearts are.

My daughter who doesn't visit the forum is still a real believer and we discuss what we have learned on the forum regularly.  She is my eldest and the one who acted as assistant mommy when the other three were growing up. She could be a preacher of truth if the spirit leads her that way.

I have found that there is quite a bit of similarity among all of the members of this forum if one takes the time to seek our similarities. God is certainly working with this group in a way that is unique among those of Christian affiliation. So I hope you will take advantage of the inspiration and depth of understanding that can be yours, God willing.

Hope to hear from you very soon.

Warm regards, Indiana Bob

Hello jingle52

I was born in Rhodesia now re-named Zimbabwe, I live in South Africa and spent three years in Roma Italia!

I have forgotten most of my Italian though have still the appreciation for having learned the beautiful expressions of this most colorful and sentimental language. Needless to say, also the nutritious cuisine was also a welcome change to my more colonial upbringing.  :)

Welcome to the Forum.

Welcome to the forum. I live just next door to you in France, but I'm from England.

In what part of Italy do you live?

Hi Indiana Bob,
thanks for the welcome and nice to meet you too! One of my best friends is from Sicily and she is such a lovely, warm person, her family moved to Verona when she was little but she now lives in a suburb near Milan. I'm just 20/25 minutes on foot from the Duomo (centre of town) and as I work close by, I also walk to and from work every day (I don't know how long that will last though, as my boss is thinking of retiring soon)! I'm glad that you and your daughter have such an affinity in Christ, I'm not that lucky with my daughters though, they have a different viewpoint from mine and I have yet to propose Ray's excellent teaching of the Truth to them... will take one step at a time! You're absolutely right about the similarities though, no matter how small or insignificant some may be, we do share common ground, (looking for the Truth is but one of them, visiting the same country is another, being an expat yet another etc).  I've joined this forum for the inspiration, insightfulness and depth of understanding and thank our Lord Jesus for leading me here! This is exactly what I've been searching for! This forum is wonderfullllllll.
Warm regards,

Hello Tammy,
thanks for the welcome!

Hello Arcturus,
ma sai ancora un pò di Italiano no???? Come va? When were you in Rome and what were you doing? I have not completely mastered the language as I was so silly not to have taken lessons immediately I arrived! I visited places and got acclimatised and then went straight to teaching English, what a foolish mistake I made! My friends were also all English mothertongue, so I had no problem socialising!! Aaaah what mistakes one does when one is young!

Hello Geof,
France is a wonderful, spectacular country. Drove through it many times on our holidays to Spain and always admired the cleaness of the highways and bathrooms (as opposed to Italy's highways) One always new when one crossed the border, I visited Montecarlo last year and wow, fell in love with the place! Never visited Paris or London, isn't that strange??? But I will have to one of these years! What part of France do you live in?

Thank you all for your interest, I appreciate this with all my heart!!!!

Hi jingle52,

I live near a village called Anduze, about 30 minutes north of Nimes.

Anduze is famous for its pots, but I also have some from Tuscany, as they are high quality and reasonably priced.
