Post by: Ninny on July 03, 2009, 11:51:05 AM
I have just learned through a friend about another child who is in need of prayer..I'm not sure what she has except a "massive tumor on the basil ganglia" of her brain..I guess she is having surgery this morning. So please remember this little one and her family her name is Kate McRae.. please be in prayer for her I'm including her caringbridge link
I will keep track of her and keep you up to date...
Thank you once again for caring and being there for those who need our prayers!!

I read the comment her Mom made about her looking so healthy and yet being so ill.  What an understatement. I can certainly identify with this.  It's hard to accept how life can be flipped on its side in a mere moment.  I hope all goes well for her and her family.

I remember that very well with Grayson! A healthier little boy you couldn't imagine! Same way with most of the sick children one day fine, the next day gravely ill...We are reminded every day in dealing with Elijah his condition is up and down even though his cancer is in remission. Keep praying..that's all we can do and believe with these parents for their children!!

He's got the whole world in His hands, He's got the wide world in His hands.

I was just thinking of the Sunday school song from long ago. It is truer then most will every believe. I will keep that child of God in my prayers Ninny. Peace an Grace to you too, Roy

Here is an update on little Kate she had surgery, no word as to the result yet, but here is another request from her parents:

There is still no sign of movement on her right side. Do not relent praying for this to come back. PLEASE! She is going for an MRI sometime this morning. They are not sure what time, but are going to work her in. The neurosurgeon will then talk with us about what the MRI shows, such as how much tumor was removed. Pray they don't have to put her to sleep again. They don't want to, but she needs to be still for the entire procedure. And it lasts about an hour. Pray God would give Kate extra mercy today.

The scary part of the MRI on a small child is the putting to sleep part...please keep praying for this little sweetie...

Here is the latest on little Kate..she is showing some signs of improvement, no word on tumor pathology yet, she is beginning to respond to questions and some movement on her right side. Please keep praying for her...here is what her daddy wrote this morning:

Pray that...
*Kate's urine tests will come back great
*her movement on the right side will grow stronger with each passing hour of the day
*Kate will increasingly be able to talk to us more proficiently as the day progresses (so far, very few words, just nods and gestures)
*the remaining tumor in the brain will decrease, and these cells be eliminated
*the areas of the brain where portions of the tumor were removed would heal quickly and completely
*her pain would continually decrease
*the swelling/bruising associated with Kate's surgery will not get any worse,  but in fact will go away
*for the doctors/nurses/staff at Phoenix Children's Hospital to see God through this process and be amazed by Him
-that they make the proper diagnosis of the tumor
-have wisdom to develop proper treatment plan
-that they will shocked by the way God moves through Kate

Thank you all for remembering all of these sick children and hurting families.   It is so hard to realize that small children can get so sick...God is good and in control please pray for strength for this baby's family..I think Kate is maybe 4 years old..not sure..the amazing thing is the same in every case I've seen, the families always pray that the doctors will be touched by the incredible love of God!!
Love you!

I learned something interesting last night..I shared this with a lot of people, little Kate's caringbridge page and my daughter-in-law shared her story with everyone she knows..I found out that through all of that somehow Hannah Grace's daddy found little Kate's daddy and became his friend on facebook!! Now he is able to minister to her family and share the miracle of God's love and grace toward them! God just is SO in control isn't he!! Hannah Grace and her family live here in South Alabama and Kate and her family live in Chandler Arizona a distance of at least 1,800 miles!!
Time and distance are no hindrance to our Loving Father!!! The only ONE TRUE AND LIVING GOD!! I am amazed!!

Kathy, It is so awesome to see how God is working through all these children and there families. Ever, since coming in here God never ceases to amaze me period. Even, when he opens my understanding to scriptures I have read for years and never understood. This is the most awesome journey I have ever taken.

I think it is so wonderful that God has put the children upon your heart and others here.

It breaks my heart when I see children who have parents that do not care how they treat there children.
Got to love those little children.

In His Love,
Marlene

Here is a portion of what Kate's mommy posted on her caringbridge last night:

Not sure what tomorrow holds. Possibly another MRI, I hope not. They are going to do another one to make sure the bleeding has stopped and see if the swelling has gone down.. (at least that is what I understood, but I don't hear a lot these days). If she has the MRI again that means more sedation and more intubation. AHHH! Please pray for Tuesday, I am absolutely dreading getting the pathology report back. I know most would think at least then you can move forward, come up with a plan. But the word, the diagnosis, one more layer of innocence torn away. Then it will be studying and hearing facts and statistics and prognoses. I don't want to.
Kate is crying. I need to help her. She is trying to say a word, but can't pronounce it. Help us God. Help my daughter! Heal her body, every single cell. Preserve her spirit. Help her fight. Give her rest.

My heart is aching for this mommy and there is no comfort except that God is in control...I so long for the day when NO parent will ever, EVER have to watch as their child has sickness or pain and NO child EVER is sick again! Please continue praying and thank you for being so much in love with God that you risk your heart for another...as always I love you all..

Hi Ninny

Little Katy is in my prayers too. My heart goes out to her mommy, I can only faintly imagine the emotional turmoil shes experiencing. May the God of comfort be with her.

Please keep the updates coming, I'm always so excited to see these lil angels rise to some recovery.

Hey guys, I just read a new update on little Kate I copied part of it for you..All I can say is these people are so desperate for their child and they know only God has the answers. These people have friends all over the country and yet we are still compelled to pray for Kate!! God must have a mighty work for her to do! I have never seen so many posts as I've seen on her caringbridge! Please keep praying for her and for peace for her parents and family.

This has got to be the hardest part, coming to the realization that your life is forever changed...

Spoke with one of her Drs about the effects of where her tumor is located. He said it is in the area of speech, motor function, sensation, and emotion. I just want to scream! I can't continuously rub her arm, it hurts her. Her sensations are weird right now. She still will barely move her right side. I don't know if when she cries and whines it is her, really needing me, or the tumor confusing her. God heal my daughter! I will post more shortly. They are getting ready to put a new IV in and take out her IJ (a line in her neck). Pray for us today. It is very difficult.

Love,
Kathy :-* :'(

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to pass the news along to you that they now have the name of Kate's tumor..it is called Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor..another word for pain, heartache and despair...
Here is a portion of what her mommy had to say:

...we are pretty sure we will be here for months on end. He said it could get scary again. But we need to be hopeful. And we know the giver of hope. So please cry out to God on our daughters behalf. Ask for complete and total healing, whether that is through modern medicine or simply DIvine intervention. Please do not grow weary interceding for us. The battle has just begun. Fight for us. Fight for Kate. I will post more later as we are still processing this.

Thank you all so much and please keep praying..
Love you all,
Kathy :-* :'(
