Title: curious
Post by: rumpelstiltskin on January 04, 2015, 12:20:52 AM
Hi foram , I was curious to know what books God impulses others to read. This topic has probably come up before but there are new members so it might inspire further reading of those books. I often read Ecclesiastes and James. I'm no academic so please don't quote Numbers  :-\ ;D

ps chapters will also do  :)

Two favs of mine are Proverbs and Song of Songs.  Songs fascinates me in that it repeats, Do not awaken love until He please.  I'm not sure I quite understand the spiritual meaning, but I'm not going to force it. ;)

Proverbs and Ecclesiastes are probably my two favorites. Also Job and Lamentations. The books of poetry, in other words. ;) I especially like reading Proverbs in The Message.

I can't think of a book I don't like to read. I'm currently reading through Judges. I prefer to read the more poetic though such as Isaiah, the book of Psalms, proverbs, and many of the new testament letters. Again, I enjoy it all and I skip around a lot! As God leads. I will say that Deut, Numbers, and Leviticus are definitely some of the harder reads but all is made clear in God's time.

I highly recommend it Rumpelstiltskin. Obviously it has its flaws, but sometimes The Message just nails it. Here are a few from chapter 16, one of my favorite chapters in the book:

1. Mortals make elaborate plans,
but GOD has the last word.

8. Far better to be right and poor
than to be wrong and rich.

9. We plan the way we want to live,
but only GOD makes us able to
           live it.

16. Get wisdom--it's worth more than
         money;
     Choose insight over income every
         time.

33. Make your motions and cast your
          votes,
but GOD has the final say.
